European Gamers Get GT5 In 2009, US Gamers Have To Wait?
As much as we'd like to believe that Gran Turismo 5 would receive a worldwide simultaneous launch, there is evidence that Europe will receive this blockbuster first.
Yesterday, we told you that European retailer, Play.com, had GT5 listed with a November 27, 2009 release date. Obviously, this caused a bit of an uproar in the racing enthusiast world because up until that point, few dared believe the game would be ready this year. Some just think it's a placeholder date but today, Euro site PS3Hype supposedly received a confirmation from Play that the November 27 date is official. Now, this got us all interested so we quickly called a few GameStops to see what they had to say, and the news from each wasn't encouraging: first of all, they've got GT5 listed with a May 4, 2010 date, and secondly, they all said that the Euro and US dates could be different. In fact, one store said it's "likely" that the game would release in Europe first. Of course, we don't put a heck of a lot of stock into what GameStop employees have to say concerning such matters, but it's certainly worth noting. As it stands now, November 27 and May 4 are six months apart, and one of these dates may be nailed in place. So where does this leave us?
Thing is, GT has always excelled in Europe. Polyphony Digital is well aware of the success the franchise has had in that region, and it's a well-known fact that a whole lot of Euro citizens love cars. Of course, the American's love affair with cars is well-documented, too, but in this case, perhaps it wouldn't be too surprising to see GT5 in Europe in 2009...

Seeing how there's trophies now and with the inclusion of the Top Gear Race Track I wonder there would be a trophy called "I'm the Stig."
If there is, I'll laugh my ass off. God I love that show.

They made Australian Top Gear but it ended up rubbish. They had all the same things like the set in a warehouse and a secret test track at an airport, then they tried to copy the hosts but Clarkson one was arrogant without being entertaining, the James May one was just an idiot and they couldn't find someone to be Hammond so they got someone with his own personality and he ended up being the only likeable one.
Luckily for the second season they got rid of the one trying to be Clarkson and replaced him with someone entertaining.
In summary: Top Gear - awesome
Top Gear Australia - not completely terrible when Waz isn't on it but will always be just a poor version of the UK one riding on the coattails of something more popular when the UK show is not on.

What makes that site deserve an official saying of a release date from Sony/PD anymore than other MORE reliable site?
Anyone can say whatever on the net. I can too. Check it out:
"It has been confirmed by Polyphony Digital and legendary game creator, Kazunori Yamauchi, that GT5 will release in the UK as of Novermeber 27, 2009"...
So what makes me more credible than anyone else? Uuuh, cause I got a confirmation from Sony and the developers?
Every GT fans should ignore every bit of these nonsense until confirmation are from Sony and PD themselves (ie. PS Blog, GT official site), not sites claiming they get official information from them.

BTW I just finished GTA5:P, I'm renting it.
And I'm so ashamed that I had to turn on Race Physics to Standard for one race:
That A Class Ferrari F430 Daytona race.
Goddamn oversteer on 2nd gear :(
It was a HUGE difference from Professional, I was quite surprised.

You guys always get stuff before us. I mean ALWAYS... By the time a movie comes out here in the cinema's, you guys have it on DVD 50% of the time.
I think it's our turn to get something and YOU have to import it.

I myself would prefer a worldwide release at the same time, i don't think we can just go off one website, like you've all said it is probably just a random placemarker.

And we pay more for games and consoles. And SCEE are beyond crap even though the EU has been far more Playstation loyal than the US who, from SCEA, get way better service than we do. I'm bot certain Sony know much about Europe either! Plus, the GT5 release will be simultaneous and before Xmas for everyonme-and likely with some kind of Slim or cut in price. With GT5, a huge brand on it's own , it's the ideal time for Sony to pull their finger out.
And Knight, again, you Americans opwe the British far more than you care to think, and not just for the finest language in the world. Even now we get treated like pariahs in our own continent for the "special relationship" we have with you guys. The same relationship which sees our soldiers dying alongside yours as we back up US foreign policy and attempt to legitimate it to the rest of the world.
I don't know if the fool or the fool that follows him is the biggest fool-I do know that Americans should appreciate the fact that they get things pretty nmuch on a plate and we always back them up so they do-however unpopular it makes us. And I wouldn't go knocking the UK when it comes to the arts, music, games industry talent(you really only think Burnout and Wipeout are made in this country?), scientific breakthroughs, inventions, medicine-in fact pretty much everything as we're much more influential than you clearly understand.
Oh, and from someone from a nation with gun laws that puzzle literally the whole of the rest of the developed world all the talk of "stabbing" was a little rich. too.
I have several US friends and they'd be a little gutted by your myopic, US-centric way of seeing the world. You come from a very great nation, that's true, but it isn't perfect and nor is it the only fekkin one on the planet.

1) It makes no sense to release it in the U.K. first. None! It will be a simultaneous worldwide release, announced at TGS.
2) If American gamers have to wait six months for GT, I suspect a lot of people will be importing a game for the first time (poping their import cherry!). I know I will import it (though it won't be my first import).
If No. 2 happens, SCEA will canibalize its own GT5 sales.

You're not kidding! At least we get some things earlier, although more often than not we have to wait (with games like Rock Band etc.)
@mastiffchild
Nope, we share with Europe. That's a good thing though, larger community and means we don't miss out on any of the PSN games. If only the European Store had as much as the US or Asian one though... we lack in things like alot of the PS1 classics you get (like with Metal Gear Solid) although it looks like they're starting to up the anti with this.
