Midway: Next MK Will Be M-Rated
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe was a solid and entertaining fighter; a surprisingly good blend of old-school brutal combat and classic comic book heroes.
However, the MK aficionados didn't particularly like the fact that all the trademark blood and gore was removed to make room for a more accessible "T"-Teen rating. Well, have no fear, because it seems the franchise will return to its roots with the next installment. As reported by IndustryGamers, series co-creator Ed Boon spoke a bit about the future of MK on his Twitter page. First, he dashed some hopes by saying there probably won't be any DLC for Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe ("I wouldn't hold my breath"), and second, he reveals that the team is indeed working on the next entry in the long-running franchise. It has a tentative title of Mortal Kombat 9 and it will be devoid of comic book superheroes. Very simply (it has to be simple if it fits into the Twitter 140-character limit), Boon said:
"People want an M-rated MK....dammit we will give them an M-rated MK."
Midway has had their fair share of financial struggles, but it's nice to know that MK lives on. We don't have any further details on the new project, but it's enough to know that it will return to the good ol' bloody foundation the franchise was built upon. If we're being honest, isn't this what really attracted everyone in the first place...?

probably even more blood and gore than in previous games
plus it will be in GLORIOUS HIGH DEFINITION!!!!!!!
hopefully they will build upon the story that they have been going with from MK: deadly alliance and deception, with a few tings from armageddon
but keep kombat like MK vs DC

Make the game bloody, fierce and a whole lot of sh** that I can't do, but feel like doing at the end of Street Fighter 4 matches (I really get competitive in that game). IF the game turns out to be like the classics, I'll go to the store and say "GET OVER HERE" and buy it.

I agree that most of the newer characters need to be cut. Maybe keep frost, she was funky even if she was a wannabe. What MK needs to do most tho is fix their horrendously clunkly controls and flesh out the moves/combo list, unless they did this in vDC but I highly doubt it. I mean most of the guys in armaggeddon had about 5 combos, some even less.
