PSXE Poll Update: Killzone 2 Squeaks Past inFamous
We actually didn't think it'd be close, but this one came down to within fifty votes or so...
We knew Killzone 2 and inFamous would duke it out for final supremacy in our latest poll, but we figured KZ2 would slip an uppercut in for the early knockout. Well, it never came, and in the end, we have to say that what continues to be PSXE's choice for Game of the Year won not by TKO, but by decision. In all honesty, we do attribute this to the fact that even the greatest experiences can fade in our minds only months after its release, especially when we're currently enamored with another game. We assume a lot of you are either still playing inFamous or have just recently finished it, which may explain the closeness of this competition. But we can't take anything away from inFamous; it's certainly my second-favorite title of 2009 thus far, and I had an absolute blast and a half playing it. Coming up a distant third was Street Fighter IV, but at least it broke a hundred votes, which the fourth place finisher, Guitar Hero: Metallica, didn't manage to do. Really, it was all about Killzone 2 and inFamous, as it should be.
Now, just so we're more aware of our reader's gaming preferences, we have a very simple question to ask this week (before we make things harder again next week). What's your favorite gaming genre? No, you can't select more than one, so just select the category that you love most. C'mon, it can't be that hard!

I couldn't agree with you more. Gameplay and control wise COD4 is better ONLY and I say ONLY, online wise because of its shorter learning curve, accessibility and control layout. Before I get flamed though, I absolutely do give 100% props to Killzone 2 and its graphics/online play it just wasn't my cup of tea control wise so I sold it after two weeks. Now, I do understand there has been (rightfully I think) enough complaints about the aiming and recoil of weapons in the game that Guerrilla are in the act of developing a "precision aiming patch," for killzone 2, when that comes out, i'll pick up a used copy and try my hand again. My opinion, Great game, slightly lack luster aiming, AWESOME AWESOME Graphics and online.

I will also not purchase MW2 now as I feel Activision have become to cocky. We'll see, may change my mind at a later stage...
Congratulations Killzone 2!

I will get your DLC packs someday I swear lol
And I didn't vote for inFAMOUS for the reason that I don't own it, but the demo was awesome ;)
Like played it for 4 hours straight. So addictive.
&&&.......... Role Playing Games!!!
Then Action/Adventure
Then Racing (unless it's Gran Turismo then Racing will be No. 2)

The decider was probably the fact that I've already got more hours out of 'inFAMOUS' than 'Killzone 2.'
As for the new poll:
The fact that I just started new games on 'Dragon Warrior VII' and 'Final Fantasy VI' should speak for itself.

Which one did I vote for? Street Fighter 4 of course. Playing the franchise for more than a decade now I was eagerly anticipating this game and for the most part it's everything I wanted. With more than 1000 matches played and 850 matches won (and counting), this will be one of my favorite games of this year.

Though SFIV is slightly better imo, it just captures everything that is great 'bout fighting games. The roster itself is spectacular!
Ben, this new poll is damn tough! Seriously choosing between Action/adventure and rpg is like choosing between pizza and chinese food :D
Eh, I'll go with rpgs

To answer your question Ben, my fav category has to be RPG, or to be more specific JRPG, no questions about it, hands down!

Amazing game! Still playing it, the only shooter i play really... though im hoping to get a new ISP soon because mine seems to be getting slower and slower... Kinda sucks playing online now =/
For the next pole... i dont think the choice is too difficult, even though i admit i had to think for a second.
But i can say that RPG's take it because of the fact that you get a much richer story telling experience than just about any other genre imo.
Just started re-playing FFVII for about the hundredth time (on my psp this time) and im hooked again. Just got Aeris's Great Gospel and am pretty proud of the strength and progression that ive achieved for where i am. (Level 65 cloud and aeris disc one with about 37 hours)
cant bring myself to continue the story yet because aeris's great gospel kicks so much a**!!

Guess I will need to wait two months until my vision is fully restored to play this amazing game...
No TV, No books, no sex, no flying, no exercise, just laying on my right side the whole day...

I am considering boycotting further Activision titles after there w*nkerish displays, clearly all these yearly franchises have gone to their head, everything they do now is a variation on a theme of either COD or GH. Seriously, other than Prototype Activision really needs some new IP, fast. They gave up WET and Brutal Legend for god knows what reason, which were interesting but risky new IP; they probably didn't see enough profit in them...They've become the EA of a few years back.
RPG all the way!!! XD

Namely it's not a FPS that's mostly grey, and it's not quite so damn linear. Everything I've seen of killzone 2 has been underwhelming, reminds me of halo alot actually, it doesn't seem to do anything that hasn't been done in dozens of other FPS's yet it gets tonnes of hype. Maybe I'll get it when it eventually becomes a greatest hit but besides infamous ghostbusters is next on my list.
