Infinity Ward Incorporating Fan Ideas Into Modern Warfare 2
When a developer listens to its fans, good things happen. Some designers merely hear the pleas, complaints and suggestions of the gamers, but others actually listen. We just had to make that distinction.
Infinity Ward is one of those studios that listened. According to Videogamer, the studio's Communications/Community Manager Robert Bowling spoke about how the loyal community helped shape Modern Warfare 2. Some time ago, Bowling asked the important question on his Twitter page: "Name one thing you'd like to see in Modern Warfare 2." You may remember this - we told you about it - and it seems the team has put the feedback they received to good use. As Bowling says, the first example of that is the level that was on display at this year's E3:
"Cliffhanger is a perfect example. The level we’ve shown at E3 is a great example of the community feedback. If you look early on at that first question we asked on Twitter, we said what’s one thing you want? Snow maps, bigger levels and new weapons were the top three things you’d see. Cliffhanger incorporates it all. We have a lot of the new weapons. We’ve brought over the attachment system from multiplayer and put it into single-player, so you’re constantly thinking of new variations of weapons, like with red dots and suppressors. And then obviously it’s a massive snow level that incorporates stealth and straight up action and low visibility snow. That’s what people were asking for."
They're also taking your suggestions for multiplayer and turning a few of them into reality. See, we figure game designers have learned that gamers are a pretty sharp bunch; not only do they understand what can and can't be done (most of the time), but they also have tremendous motivation to tell developers what they want. More studios are starting to do this, and the results are paying big dividends. Yep, just one big happy family.

anyway, what I'd like to see, is a list of servers to join (like KZ2, R2, ect...) in MW2 instead of finding games at random like the last two cod's... like it technically isn't a cod, so it would justify the new interface... nothing bugs me more than landing in a random server with 2 other people in it... and keep going into it when i look for another server...

Back when I worked with the Quake3 engine the first thing I always did was issue a questionnaire to see what people wanted from their maps!
