Take-Two: Agent "Is Going To Be Very Fresh For Gamers"
It was announced at Sony's E3 press conference earlier this month, but we only received some baseline information along with the fact that it will be a PlayStation 3 exclusive.
In a recent Eurogamer interview with Take-Two CEO Ben Feder, we get a few more details concerning the "spiritual successor" to their acclaimed Grand Theft Auto franchise. The comparisons are almost inevitable, but Feder wanted to make it clear that Agent will be "very fresh for gamers." As he said:
"It's a completely different storyline, there is completely different character development. It's a game about espionage, set in the 1970s. GTA is obviously more about an urban experience, a typically rags to riches experience. Very, very different storylines, very different character development. It's going to be very fresh for gamers."
He also briefly addressed the reason why Agent is a PS3 exclusive; he said "it's important when you're launching a new franchise to make sure you have the right support." ...and apparently, Sony gives the right support, despite their evident refusal to bring that GTAIV DLC to the PS3. Feder said they "don't talk about that" in the interview, so take from that what you will. As it stands, Agent is a game about espionage set in the 1970s, and yes, it will certainly be different than GTA. Stay tuned for more.

Also, most multiplatform games are also being built on 2nd or 3rd generation technology for this generation of consoles, which also makes development quicker (hence cheaper) than an exclusive.
But look at Insomniac, which is using 4th generation tech for the new Ratchet game which will be out this year and you can see how quick development has been for an exclusive - Resistance 2 was released at the end of last year.
And multiplatform games are only relatively cheaper than exclusives as they have a larger install base to sell games to, hence the return is larger.

They said a while back that their next new IP would be exclusive because it could only be done on the PS3.
I hope they show us something more than just a update version of GTA with different settings...

Don't take it to heart, I never pay attention to the few who deny they need the 12-step rehab program at their local TBA(Thumb Abusers Anonymous).
And if I may quote from the TBA's brochure.... it states that it all stems from the fact that most continuing thumb-suckers just don't know there's a great alternative available to them.
TBA states that while using their award winning patented remedy(and a grope-therapy favorite) they have accomplished an amazing 99% cure rate, and all just by teaching the patient it's quite OK to shove both thumbs right up their own asses.
