Kojima Has MGS5 Ideas But Wants To "Create Something New"

Typically, when Hideo Kojima speaks, the world listens. But whenever he says it's his "last Metal Gear project," we've learned not to listen.

That's a good thing, of course. We're going to get Metal Gear Solid: Rising for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for the PSP, and the master shows no signs of stopping. In fact, despite earlier saying that Peace Walker was like "the MGS5 within him," Kojima apparently has several ideas for the MGS that follows Rising. However, he doesn't want the team to use any of 'em, 'cuz if they do, it means Kojima will have to be more directly involved with the project. And we do know he wants to try other things in the future. Said Kojima in a recent 1Up interview:

"I have three concepts for MGS5 already. What would be ideal for me with MGS5, though, is that we don't do those. If the team picks one of those concepts, I have to get involved again, which I don't want to do. There are already so many good ideas from the staff, so if we select one of those, that would be really good. At that point I could really rely on them and take the step back to be the producer, which is the ideal situation, I think."

Kojima went on to say he wants to "create something new," and apparently, he has his idea already in place for this...but it's something that "no one" has seen before, which means it's tough to describe. He did say he's been "warming this up for a long time," so perhaps he just needed the technology to advance to the point where it could embrace his ambitious idea. For our part, we really don't care what it is: if Kojima is doing it, we're playing it. Case closed.

Whatever. If MGS5 is realized, let it be the real director of MGS3.

Actually, this can't be from last year, because no one knew the name Metal Gear Solid Rising or the PSP one. Then it is extremely similar.

It might be confusing because they always use the same Kojima picture.

I dunno... I don't like it when a director milks a franchise for too long, very often it'll ruin it. I think it should have stopped with MGS4.

Once Konami tastes the profits coming in from the sales of Rising on 3FixMe and PS3, I doubt we'll see any PS3 exclusive in the future which is pretty sad because we all know that if you wana make a game for Xbox, you got trim everything short so you can fit the damn DVD!

But isn't that up to Kojima, since his studio is making it? Or does Konami own Kojima's studio?

kojima pro is a subsidiary of konami. konami made kojima do this, watch the microsoft keynote, note the forced smile, Kojima-san isn't too happy.

Are you sure it was a fake smile? It seemed pretty authentic to me.

Anyways, wasn't kojima not for any system except the company that provided him the system to create his games?

I wonder does his new ideas for this totally different IP have anything to do with motion controls?

Do you all remember that crazy dude at the end of MGS4? The one that appeared and shock most of us? Yes that one! I don't want to give out any spoilers, but I would like to play with that guy in a brand new game with PS3 graphics and MGS4 controls. Either that or have like Solidus Snake game. That'd be cool although Solidus got somewhat "owned" in part 4.

I think we'll see MGS5 after he creates something new. Kojima is bound to give into his desires and create part 5 just like little kids give into candy. For now, we'll enjoy any game he's part of.
