Tecmo Offers More Quantum Details
As time rolls on, it becomes a more prominent fixture on the horizon. We all love our third-person shooters, and we believe Tecmo is fully capable of delivering the next great one in the form of Quantum.
Now, in a recent Siliconera interview with game director Makoto Shibata, we scrounge up a few more details that should intrigue action fans. The first question involved the team's decision to make this project a PlayStation 3 exclusive, and Shibata simply replied that they wanted the machine with the "highest specs." End of story. Shibata goes on to address the comparisons to Gears of War and actually mentions Resident Evil 4 as a direct influence; essentially, he's talking about TPS games that make fresh strides in the genre. And speaking of innovation, Quantum will boast more of an action feel than either Gears or RE4: as Shibata said, the main character will be able to climb "and fight while hanging," and as the tower (the battlefield) shifts with time, we get the feeling that platforming will play more of a role. Remember, Tecmo makes the Ninja Gaiden series, so it wouldn't be surprising to see some platforming action ideas rub off on Quantum. Then they go on to discuss the decided lack of in-your-face gore, the character design, and why there isn't any offline multiplayer.
Oh, and one last thing: apparently, there are two characters. One is Syd, the massive gun-toting dude, and the other is an agile female warrior that Syd can...um...throw. Do we smell cooperative stuff? Guess we'll have to learn more about that at a later date.

I just hope the colors are not too plain like KZ2. You see more details, but it's more pleasing to the eyes with more contrast in colors.

I love the Gears games and really want an equivalent on the PS3.
As a side thought, has anyone heard anything about Gears of War 3 coming to PS3? I know Epic's contract was only for 2 exclusive titles, but has Microsoft renewed this?

"Resident Evil 4 is what started the TPS (third person shooter) genre." Oh really? So SOCOM didn't exist before RE4? Or did RE4 start the TPS genre in Japan? I'm sorry but that's just an incredibly stupid thing to say.
I am looking forward to this game though. The article says there is no offline multiplayer because the developers are making the single player campaign the "offline mode." Also, co-op just wouldn't be practical becuase of the campaign is set up; the second character isn't around for the entire course of the game.

if not splitscreen competetive like killzone 1 had, atleast split screen co-op like resistance 1 had.
but seriously the ps3 can have up to 7 controllers connected at once.
but whats the point?
99.99% of games are only 1 player so why did sony waste there time making the ps3 compatiable with it.
im not asking for 7 player split screen obviously but atleast 2 player so you and a friend can co head to head.
or up against some bots, or atleast co-op.
