New Features Planned For EU PSN
Everyone loves new features, right? Even if they're not exactly earth-shattering, new features enhance the universal appeal of a particular application, and a few more are in store for the PlayStation Network.
As the Portal Manager for SCEE wrote over at the European PlayStation Blog, the PSN will receive two new enhancements, following on the heels of the last batch of upgrades that hit a few months ago. In just a few weeks time, Sony will add a "My Trophies - Compare with your friends" page, which is exactly what it sounds like: line up your Trophy list with a friend's, and see who has what. Then there's the Trophies Leaderboard, which shows your exact position in relation to all your other PSN buddies. Bear in mind, though, that these features appear to only be confirmed for the Euro PlayStation site; the title of the article itself says, "PSN on eu.playstation.com," so beyond this information, we don't know where else these upgrades may land. But at least these are two oft-requested features, and it's good to know that Sony is continually listening to gamer suggestions. Of course, there are many possibilities when it comes to the PSN, and we may see something very special when the "expanded Network" supposedly rolls out next spring...who doesn't want the Network to be on most any Sony electronic device?
Anyway, the more features the better. Sure, we may not use 'em all, but it's always nice to know they're there.

Say, Ben? Have you seen the reports that Home's Head Honcho has said that Home will become essential as game launching from within Home becomes universal to new games? It almost sounds like he's suggesting that Home may still live up to the potential as a replacement for the XMB.
I wonder whether any of these new features, especially the My Trophy stuff will have a Home based component? Perhaps a trophy Room for your Homespace?

Okay i hear all you, maybe you just don't care about trophies. I think trophies have made me play my games more, else i'll beat a game and the next thing i'd be selling it.

Just wondering how this is accessed. I have an EU PSN account... will the comparison widget be accessible via the XMB; impossible if there is no physical upgrade to the firmware I would assume...
Q!
