MAG Beta: Likely To Be Invite-Only And Restricted To Europe?
See Full ImageWhen it comes to beta testing, gamers have become quite spoiled in this new generation; they all feel entitled to a position in every big test. And while many huge titles have been public in the recent past, you can't expect all of them to be open to everyone on earth.
However, that may not soften the blow for those who have been desperately hoping to be part of the MAG beta experience. We knew a test was coming but for whatever reason, many believed it would be a public beta and gamers could secure their position in any number of ways. For example, all you had to do to gain entrance to the Uncharted 2: Among Thieves multiplayer beta was purchase inFamous from GameStop (and there were other ways of getting in, too). But unfortunately, MAG's European Franchise Manager posted a disappointing clarification on the official Euro PlayStation forums:
"Sorry to pee on your proverbials all, but MAG is likely to be tested by the Beta Trial community only in Europe. If plans change then you’ll be made aware of how you can register, but I just don’t want people getting their hopes up unnecessarily."
Bah. We so wanted in! But like he said, this isn't written in stone just yet so perhaps things can change in the near future. Given the massive hype that continues to surround this game, one would hope that we would receive some public beta invitations; after all, we're talking about 256-player battlefields, right? The more, the better! Maybe if there's enough of a fan outcry for Zipper Interactive to open the beta to a much larger group of testers, it'll happen. Keep your fingers crossed.

not only because 256 per map = more the merryer...
but the fact that Europe hardly gets anything...
of all things, why do they get to hoard MAG beta??

I made a new topic on this because I was afraid my response wouldn't be seen in the thread about your Beta concerns. I'm sorry I didn't get you this information earlier today. But I still wanted to give you the official response on the confusion about the Beta.
I just wanted to clear up any misunderstandings about Shijima's post on the European forum. His comments were directed to his community and it is a mistake to think that the Beta will only be comprised of Europeans. We will be releasing more information on the Beta for MAG in the future, but we can confirm that it will include users from North America.
I know some of you already assumed that but I wanted to make sure you had the official word on it.

Plus how could you not tell he was refering only to Europe. If he wasn't there would have been a comma before "only in Europe". I thought it was pretty clear when I read it a while back.
