Capcom Classics Flood PSN Today

If you've been roving around the Store or PlayStation Home this year, you know Capcom is an avid supporter of the Network. But you haven't seen anything yet: starting today, more than a few Capcom classics are hitting the Store for play on both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable.

As announced over at the PlayStation Blog, the first batch of old-school gems will go up on the Store today. It includes the Capcom Classics Collection: Remixed, which features recognizable arcade titles like Final Fight, Bionic Commando, Street Fighter, and Magic Sword. In fact, there are 20 classic games included in the Collection, so if that's not worthy of your time, you ain't no true gamer. Visit the Capcom Unity website to take a gander at all 20 titles. The other games that you'll be able to download today are:

  • Mega Man Powered Up (UMD Legacy)
  • Dino Crisis (PlayStation Legacy)
  • Power Stone Collection (UMD Legacy)
  • Mega Man Maverick Hunter X (UMD Legacy)
  • Resident Evil 2 (PlayStation Legacy)
  • Darkstalkers (UMD Legacy)
  • Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max (UMD Legacy)
  • Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (PlayStation Legacy)
  • Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded (UMD Legacy)

At some point later this summer, you can expect Fate/Unlimited Codes to join the fray, which will release exclusively on the PSN and be "ready for the new PSP Go." One might think that with all this new technology, we'd be leaving the past behind at a record rate, but the Store and Live Marketplace have allowed us to relive the golden age of gaming on a continual basis. So awesome.

Man I'd like to see Dino Crisis go the way Resident Evil 4 did, drop the old tank controls and amp the action.

Hmm. I've seen CCCR over at Target for 7.48. I just may have to get that. I'll be looking forward to the additional content as well.

I still have my original copy of Dino Crisis. Definitely my favorite game on the PS1, and the only game to do dino's right(I was never a fan of Turok). I gave my buddy the Resident Evil 3 demo that came with the game though, stupid move.

It's just the digital version of the UMD that was released back in '06. Nothing different about this one except probably the load times.

Dino Crisis. Same creator as the Biohazard series and to be honest, a lot more THRILLING than the Biohazard counterparts (except for the Biohazard 1 remake).

Never played any of the Dino Crisis games, and didn't finish Resident Evil 3 so this is great.

Loved the first Breath Of Fire for the SNES but never played the sequels, so I would love to see those go up for sale on the Network.

Now the anti-Resident-Evil-5ers can play their Resident Evil 3: Nemesis with a big grin, with more tanky controls and confusing camera angles and still say its better than RE4 or RE5, at least in their eyes not me. Oh and i guess you can run-and-gun in RE3 or am i wrong?
Do you think you can survive a majini or ganado onslaught with those old RE3 cameras?

They'll say don't fix whats not broken, so capcom kept the tank controls and put the camera behind the player for a shoulder view to face new and improved "zombies" in RE4, it was great,RE5 wanted to stick to that and people are whining. These same people will be whining if run-and-gun was included, they'll be like "oh RE5 feels like some FPS, everything is so fast, capcom ruined it". Now they stick to the "don't fix if its not broken" rule and people are still ranting.

Forgive me if am venting about RE5 too much but that's the same way i loved Uncharted when it came out first. Nobody really cared until now every one from toddlers to old men know Uncharted is a classic thus the hype behind Among Thieves. Mind you Capcom says you wouldn't see a new RE in a long time, so you better make it worthwhile and pick up RE5.

Again forgive me, one more thing, am playing with Sheva with the clubbin' costume on my third play-through, she looks hot in it, now i see a lot of re-playability here since i've not unlocked the third costume yet ;)

Dude. RE5 wasn't Resident Evil. It was Gears of Evil. RE5 is by far the worst in the series. Just looks pretty.

I agree, RE5 was horendous, Its not a horror series anymore, but a a gruesome action game. I bought this played it for a few hours, then played RE: Code Veronica and sold RE5 the next day, i reminded myself how better the classic RE is.

I blame the over the shoulder camrea, in the classic games, they have eriee camera angles which i think make the experience. the same with classic SH (1-3).

To any original Fan of the series RE5 is an abomination. You clearly didn't catch onto the series till RE4 if you think RE5 is a true RE game. Like it was stated previously it's simple a GearsofWar game. There is little to no horror about it. The original RE games were true survival horror, they scared people. RE4 and RE5 are action games, bla.

Awesome news. I beat RE5 earlier this year, and just started 4 yesterday in my journey to play all the great PS2 games I missed out on. Now with RE:DC, RE2 and RE3 online, I can play them all in reverse order!

@Ultimadream: I agree with you there, I tried playing RE2 recently on my brothers N64, and made it as far as 3 screens.

While I won't be buying any of these probably, it's great to see a lot of games continuing to pop-up on PSN.

About Resident Evil 5... I have to agree that it wasn't really survival horror anymore like the earlier ones were, but it wasn't like Gears of War either. If you could run and gun, then maybe. I've gotten used to a lot of other games now that I can run and gun in and the tank controls ruined it for me. If it's a classic for anyone, that's great. I just didn't like it personally.
