SOCOM 4 Currently In The Works?
It wouldn't come as any shock to learn that Sony was already preparing another SOCOM installment; it has routinely proven to be a popular and mostly profitable franchise.
According to PS3Center, PCB Productions may have prematurely lifted the lid on SOCOM 4. The digital content creation studio lists the work they've done - and are currently doing - and as you will see via the link at the aforementioned source, the title "SOCOM 4" appears just a little ways down on their credits page. It seems they've done some "motion capture direction" and that the game is "in development," which should come as good news to all fans of the long-running series. Now the question is: if Zipper Interactive is nearing completion on MAG, might they already be starting in on the next official SOCOM entry? Or have the design duties returned to Slant Six, who are also chugging away on SOCOM: US Fireteam Bravo 3 for the PSP. Last year's SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Confrontation got off to a slow start due to unstable servers and other technical issues, but we weren't overly hasty and waited for many of the bigger problems to be repaired. We're glad we did, too; as it turns out, the game offered a very solid online multiplayer experience.
Anyway, we'll let you know if any fresh news concerning SOCOM 4 pops up. We imagine there are plenty of fans out there who will be excited to learn more about the impending title.

I miss Zipper Interactive as the helmer of the SOCOM titles, and although they're not making the 3rd Fireteam Bravo title on PSP, unlike the first two, it's still a buy for me.

1) if big-name games were all put on the ps2 as well, it would only make a consumer's decision to jump to the PS3 a little more difficult seeing that both consoles receive the same games. (and there's a hell of a lot of cheap people out there)
2) if SOCOM4 is made for both consoles, then the majority of the game would have to be very similar on both consoles (save for a few key things: graphics, sound, polished all-around on PS3). the bad thing about this is that this would keep the PS3 version from being a great "next-gen" game, in terms of gameplay. I play Confrontation daily, and i think the biggest problem with the game (except for the game's obvious flaws) is the lack of Slant 6's attempt to make a fresh, new stride with the series. the video may be in HD, but there is absolutely nothing about the gameplay, controls, features, etc. that makes me feel like i am getting a "next-gen" experience... the only reason i keep playing is because of the friendships i have made through the game. (if you've been keeping up with the socom.com blog, then you will know that this is the premier reason why people still play Confrontation)
i will have to agree with JDHeXeN that /6 should not be allowed anywhere near SOCOM4. i pray that whatever dev gets a chance with this title realizes and understands my plea for a true "next-gen" experience.

that was the best of the series and for the love of god put a single campaign in.
add that and syphon filter.
why sony hasent announced that yet is beyond me, if theres one series that they have thats similar to halo and as popular its that.
both broken mirror and logans shadow are by far the best psp titles, so i wish they would hurry up and announce that for the ps3.
add those 2 with the announced games like heavy rain GOW3 and im set.
now all i need is some news on doom 4 and half life 2 epp3, seems like years since we heard of either.

Although I still own Confrontation, I haven't even tried playing it since March due to lag and other issues.

P.S. And Socom (as much as I love the multiplayer) isn't Socm without a single player campaign!

Confrontation REALLY needed a campaign.
