SOCOM 4, Syphon Filter 5 Rumor Gets Shot Down
Bah. If you were getting your hopes up concerning Syphon Filter 5 and SOCOM 4, we're about to put a damper on your day.
Both games were rumored to be in development, primarily due to the fact that both titles appeared on the credits page of digital design company, PCB Productions. In fact, we just recently noticed the existence of SOCOM 4 amongst the many credits at PCB, which is why we were all excited. After all, PCB has been very active in the past, providing content for titles in the Call of Duty series, and also contributing to the likes of both Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighters and Bioshock. However, as reported by CVG, a few titles on that aforementioned credit page are improperly listed. A PCB rep said:
"I apologize for the confusion. There appears to be some errors on our credits. Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror was recorded a few years back with Image Metrics, and we recorded Red Steel for the Wii. We recently worked on Socom FTB 3 for the PSP."
Therefore, in case you can't read between the lines, "Syphon Filter 5" was really referring to Dark Mirror and "SOCOM 4" translates to SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3. We would like to add that more evidence for a fifth Syphon Filter had been located recently, but we're not about to add more fire to the rumor, simply because nothing is official. As of right now, the information taken from PCB wasn't accurate; the titles were just referring to different games in the respective franchises.
