Third Mortal Kombat Movie Set To Go?
The first Mortal Kombat movie wasn't a masterpiece, but at least it was semi-entertaining, and perhaps sadly, it remains one of the better game-to-movie adaptations.
Subsequent MK films didn't fare so well, but perhaps hope can spring anew with the announcement of the third movie. According to GameSpot, last month's bankruptcy court suit included the information that producer Larry Kasanoff was working on what we might call "Mortal Kombat 3." He said the "script, talent, and shooting locations" were all lined up, and now, as reported by the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, we have more evidence that this movie may hit theaters some time next year. Eighth-degree black belt Chris Casamassa told the Tribune he'd be returning to his role as the original Scorpion and filming was set to begin in September. The first film only took $25 million to make (what, you couldn't tell?) and it managed to rake in $122 million in box office revenue, so it appears they're hoping to reclaim that popularity. After all, Midway could definitely use some good news these days and for the time being, they still own all the licenses to the long-running franchise. Let's just hope this movie turns out better than the recent "Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li." Besides the very cute Kristin Kreuk, that movie was basically worthless.
Those who remember the first MK movie will probably agree that the Scorpion/Johnny Cage fight was pretty sweet; it was arguably the best battle in the movie. ...well, it was cool for the time, damnit.

However, if this new film has some of the original cast (given though they may be quite old by now), it may be worth at least 1 viewing.
2nd movie retained 2 of 5 original actors, 2! The other 3 were new replacements...and Cage dies right away, wtf? lol.
In any event, more fighting less special effects (animalities...aka FAILS).

I hope they remember what made the first one good when they do this one.

have them be either raiden and quan chi or subzero and scorpion.
and i wish they would do another shaolin monks.
i loved that game, ive never spent so much time on 1 single game, ive never finished a game so many times 6 if i remember right.
make shaolin monks 2 than make mk deception 2 and then im happy.
the rest can be like MKVDC that was a good game, i enjoyed the mechanics and what they added like the in air combat BUT they have to bring back the style string combos.
they were the best part of MK starting in 1 fighting style than stringing it into the next than into the last.
MK use to be sort of a button masher but you had to get the timing perfect.
anyone tried to do sparky on MK deception now that was incredibly hard.
thats what MK needs a combo system that you look at and go holy .... how am i supose to do that.
o and of corse the enviromental finishers.
throwing a enemy into the fire in the infernary was so much fun.
MK needs its brutality back, and make it that you have a meter block enough attacks deal enough damage the meter builds up than you can do a brutality move.
now were talking.

Although I remember being so inconsolably disappointed with the second... I... I don't want to talk about it.
Get the original cast back, and a passably okay script that doesn't butcher the MK Universe, and I'll be on board for this. Otherwise, please oh please... just scrap it. And I swear... if any DC characters show up in this movie I'll gouge my eyes out, what a joke.
