Uncharted 2 Official Release Date, Pre-Order Incentives

In the best news we've seen all month (really, things have been a little slow, as they often are during summer), the official release date, box art, and pre-order incentives have been revealed for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

Kotaku has unveiled all the necessary information for what is guaranteed to be a Game of the Year candidate: first of all, the hotly anticipated title is confirmed for an October 13 launch date in the U.S., and that box art is just plain bad-ass. We know you want to reserve your copy soon - like maybe right now - and that being the case, you need to check out the various pre-order bonuses for the major retailers. If you choose Best Buy, you will receive a pair of golden Barettas and golden AK-47s for use in the game's multiplayer mode (flashy, no?), and if you pre-order from Amazon.com, you'll get an exclusive Uncharted 2 Treasure Map (find hidden goodies in the game!). GameCrazy will give you an exclusive Currency Multiplier for the online multiplayer, and GameStop will give you first dibs on the upcoming multiplayer demo, plus award you the downloadable Revenge Attribute. The demo in question will run from September 9 through September 29, which means if you pre-order from GameStop, you'll have a two-week jump on the action; the demo isn't available to the public until September 30. If all this isn't enough to get you excited, just peruse any one of the many videos we have for your drooling pleasure.

We get the sneaking suspicion that Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 are gonna duke it out for the ultimate Game of the Year Award in 2009...we're don't have ESP or anything; we're just saying.

That was quick.

I wouldn't be surprised if I don't buy a new game on Day One until Uncharted 2. This one looks like it has a great chance of winning the overall GOTY or at least the PS3 GOTY. The videos alone have me really excited.

People didn't know what to think of the first game but I have a feeling everybody is going to anticipate the sequel.

Sadly I think MW2 is the favorite;That is if GOTY is decided by popular vote.It just seems that it's getting hype from all directions.

Good question. We'll have to see how the rest of the fall releases pan out. Right now, Street Fighter 4 might be the GOTY leader.

I'd say BB has the best pre-order goodies. The map sounds good but you just know it'll be downloadable on October 14. Currency multiplier is cool but not cooler than golden guns. I pass on GameStop no matter what.

due to that fact that money is so tight right now and as much as I really really want this to be a day one purchase, I'm gonna have to wait to pick it up for $20 USD cause I'm broke(not really broke, but all my money is going to bills and other stupid stuff like car insurance).

In all honestly, I'm somewhat disappointed by the box art. I really loved the box art to the first game and how it seemed to follow the design of some adventure epics like the Indiana Jones series and The Jewel of the Nile. This box art was the second game just looks like a plain-Jane screenshot. It's basically just a generic video game cover that probably won't stand out along the rest of the games out there. The game is gonna rock, though. No doubt about that.

This is very good news! I've beaten Infamous and I don't have any games left to play on my ps3. I still have to wait 3 more months to play Uncharted 2. Good thing I have Final Fantasy VII on my psp now. It's good to have an old school rpg to play once in a while.

Well, I will have to avoid reading much about the games coming out this year... My eye sight is still F***ed and I can't really follow action games that well left alone FPS. The worse thing is I was right in the middle of Resistance2 :-(
I will buy it and watch the intro but I refuse to play this game with just one eye, It would not make the game justice LOL

Don't know about you guys but I prefer the black background with just the logo boxart as opposed to hanging-by-the-train one. But as a sucker for special editions, I may not buy this until the next few weeks confirm of the said edition.

any news on when the release date for australia is?
why when a games release date is announced only US and europe are mentioned.
there is people who play games out side of the US you know............
i wonder if sony is going to break there habit and release a LE for their game for the first time, hope so.
and is there going to be a single player demo available before the game comes out?
as for KZ2 V U2 for GOTY.
i doubt KZ2 will get nominated, it will be in the runners up list but bar graphics it was a little disappointing.
i was expecting the gameplay to be more new, other than exactly the same of the other 1 million FPS out there.
the gameplay stayed the same, the way you play to progress was the same, the way you kill enemies was the same.
every level felt like a extention of the last besides the desert mission, that was a breath of fresh air but 1 mission is no where near enough.

Day one buy for me 1000000000%....tha 1st game was over looked Sony didnt push it enough if they did...well i think it might of sold a hell of alot more then it did...to this day i still think Uncharted is one of the best games of this gen! Uncharted 2..GOTY..i think so!
