Epic On Latest Unreal Engine: "We're Adding Great New Features"
The most recent iteration of the Unreal Engine has been found in everything from downloadable titles to family-oriented games to big ol' blockbuster productions. And it seems the new version is gonna be just as popular.
Epic Games creates these engines and head man Mark Rein spoke to VG247 about what could technically be called "Unreal Engine 3.8." By this time, Rein says the engine is "very mature," as the team continues to make it more capable year after year. Initially, the Unreal Engine 3 was said to have problems adapting to the complex PlayStation 3 hardware, but that was back in 2007, when just about every developer had some sort of issue with the PS3. As for this new engine, Rein had this to say:
"It’s a very mature engine and we’re adding great new features every year. I just saw some incredible new stuff that we’re either later this year or next year for new engine features and I think they’re really going to blow people away."
There's an incomplete sentence in there - maybe VG247 will update it - but we get the gist. A few days ago, we learned that internal Sony teams might be using the Killzone 2 engine to drive a few new projects forward, although those games currently under wraps. Also, the engine will likely remain exclusive to Sony (internal as it is), while you can bet that third-party developers everywhere will once again be clamoring to license the new Unreal engine. It's always plenty popular.

And, Soultaker, I seen a vid for Blade & Soul...HOLY ISH!!!! And no they don't look blocky. But they do have that 360 gloss. Too bad its not officially confirmed for the PS3. I never heard of this game till today. I thought NCsoft was working on Aion?

Though saying Killzone 2's graphics or game "suck" provides no intellectual feedback for others to calculate the decision process on their views. Though one cannot argue with someone who refuses to provide examples of such claims as "cutting corners" or how "Killzone is a terrible franchise" coincides with the game engine quality itself.
Usually a statement as such clearly points out the individual's age or education level that may simply imply they prefer Pokemon games.

And with so many engines at hand and mostly "exclusive" to the PSX, I guess we can say that Sony have secured itself in this gaming generation. There's only so much Unreal Engine can give but I'll cross my fingers and give them a chance to showoff again.

....
a lot of people say bad things about the unreal engine, but people forget how old and how versatle it is too.
UT3 still looks great, and for those who doubt me, then you should play the game again, and just because other people who use the engine arent as versed in its ways as say Epic are... they are getting better.
I think this new engine will be awesome, I trust Epic.

But if they keep it the same for the next 5 years and add just some better lighting to it cough*Vale*cough they would end up that way.
No chance of that happening tho
