Obsidian: Sex In Alpha Protocol Is "Satisfying And Tasteful"
The sex scenes on tap for Alpha Protocol have been receiving all sorts of attention...even months before the game is slated to launch.
Many have been asking if there will be full nudity, and whether or not the sex will be controllable; i.e., if it'll actually be part of the gameplay. Well, according to VideoGamer, developer Obsidian has clarified a few points on the matter: firstly, the sex scenes will be both "satisfying" and "tasteful," and no, you will have no control over characters when they're amorously involved. In other words, this won't be like God of War, where the correct pressing of buttons would yield a heavy orgasmic result. In this case, Bioware is usually the designer that takes flak for racy content; 2007's Mass Effect featured full frontal nudity, sex with aliens, and more controversial stuff, but you won't be able to see all of that in Alpha Protocol. Said programming producer Nathan Davis:
"No, it’s tasteful. We do some things with our cinematics, too. It isn’t just like a hand up on a thing! We cut around it a little bit. It’s an American game! What can I say? There are limits to what we can do there. I’ve seen a few of the cinematics for those and it ends up being satisfying without being...you know...over...you know?"
Er...okay. In response to whether or not we'd have those aforementioned GoW sex scenes, David just replied, "No, no, no!" However, this won't stop you from striking up romances with several of the female NPCs in the game, and such couplings will have a direct impact on the storyline progression. In other words, if you choose to sleep with this one instead of that one, you might get a different ending. Decisions, decisions...

It's fine to watch someone being beaten to a bloody pulp on the news, but any slight nudity or sex or anything of sexual nature results in a massive uproar!!!
Why?!?!? Why is violence okay but sexual referecnes, activity, etc. not? Aren't you more concerned about games where you blow the head off something rather than games that show a naked woman?
Which is more natural and good in nature? Killing something or making love to something!?!?!
This is an outrage and I am sick of this horrific trend!!!!! Who here agrees with me?!?!?

I also blame developers, for not making good platform games, honestly, what is there this gen Ratchet and Clank.....great, al the classic platformer legends are going down the toilet, Crash, Sonic, Mario( Not so much Mario i guess), Spyro, theres not much there really.
This is why I'm looking forward to Heavy Rain (Let me finish), Because the game is focuing more on the plot rather than kill count. We need more games like this.
As for Nudity being worse than violence. Obviously thats rediculous, but i think the reasons why its stated as that in the game industry is because at this moment, games are still viewed as a form of entertainment that will be accessed by children dominantly. 5-10 years i think it wil be very different, its clear that the gaming industry has leaped boundries over the past decade, i guess nudity is the current boundry they have to overcome.

"Blow the head off something?" Actually naw, I'm going to leave that alone, this is a family site after all...:P Anyone else got a comment they would like to put in there?

@Jalex. I couldn't have said it better. Mans nature is flawed and he perverts everything he touches. Especially sexual matters.

True, violence is a natural part of survival, whether it be in war, self-protection, etc.
I guess I was just venting my frustration at how violence is seen as normal in video games but sex or nudity remains a hot topic.
@ Jalex
Completely agree with you. Violence comes naturally but love, the opposite sex, etc. has to be taught and understood.
I guess I'm just getting tired of the whole FPS formula of racking up kill counts. This is why Heavy Rain is at the top of my list for must-have titles.
Also, I did mean "making love to someone", not "making love to something". Slight error there. I guess my full sentence should have been "Which appears more positive? Killing someone or making love to someone?" And yes, I believe there should be more of an uproar surrounding extreme violence in games rather than surrounding naked women appearing in games. But you have already made your arguments about that one, so I'll just leave it.
BTW, I apologise if I offended anyone with "you Americans", but with documentaries, films, news, etc. showing great amounts of non-war related violence in USA, it just appears to those around the world (particularly here is Oz) that USA is a highly trigger happy nation and this is a rather negative image.
Maybe I'm just thinking of the deep south states. LOL
And please don't have a go at me for being anti-American or anything. Like in Futurama, I'm a whale biologist, I calls 'em as I sees 'em.

fighting,murder,shooting,cutting things open with chainsaws.
Also...sex isnt inhumane. The way sex is sometimes portrayed however can be.
So your own arguement is the weak one.
