Battlefield 1943 Smashes Records
Who says downloadable titles can't be immensely popular? Who says they can't bring in big profit? The more they make and the better they get, the more popular they will become; plain and simple.
Just look at the success of Battlefield 1943, one of the latest and greatest gems on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace. EA has announced that DICE's excellent production is now the fastest-selling Day One and Week One downloadable title ever, on both the PS3 and Xbox 360. Since it launched back on July 8, over 600,000 people have forked over the $14.99 to participate in major skirmishes on Wake Island, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima and Coral Sea (recently unlocked by the community, which needed to hit 43 million kills). And if for whatever reason you're still not convinced, you can always try out the free 30-minute trial on the PSN or XBL Marketplace; the trial returned on July 18. On the surface, this may appear like nothing more than "just another FPS," but the depth and diversity of this downloadable game can't be denied. It looks absolutely fantastic, the action is almost always fast and entertaining, and it's great for those who have had fun with titles like Warhawk in the past. Battlefield 1943 is the perfect example of a cheap game that's well worth the expense; you could quite literally play this one forever.
Of course, many are anxiously awaiting Battlefield: Bad Company 2, set to launch later this year (hopefully). That too should be awesome and well worth the $60 but for only $15, you can get a taste of DICE's considerable development ability now.

Whilst in the lobby, you can chat fine. 2 mins into the game though all comms disappear until you go back into the lobby.
Have had none of the "disconnects" that others have been complaining about though.

Though one thing I think they could add is flame throwers as they were an integral part of american firepower in the war in the Pacific.

I just love to have that kind of quality game for 15$. More maps is definitely the way to go from here given the user base. I'll even pay for them!

The other problem I have is unless you are part of a clan, no one talks to each other. Instead of working together, they all go their seperate ways..lol, and I die.
But I persevere. After awhile it becomes fun, there's been very few times that I've sat at the top of the kill list, but as long as I'm not on the bottom, I'm a happy fragger.

The Xbox LIVE community reached the goal of 43 million kills in just 5 days.
And the PlayStation community hit the 43 million kill mark in only 8 days.
Van Dyke also said that the popularity of the community unlock has him thinking about including something similar in "Bad Company 2" too.

Well it's popular now so maybe we will get some new maps in the future.
