Square-Enix Bringing Hefty Lineup To GamesCom 2009
You know about E3, GDC, and TGS, but there are other gaming events that are of some significance every year, and one of them is GameCom.
This year's GamesCom will be held in Cologne and runs from August 19 through August 23. If you need a reason to pay attention, you should know that Square-Enix Europe and new business partner Eidos have released their lineups for the anticipated event, and they're pulling out all the stops. In addition to Eidos' contributions of Batman: Arkham Asylum (set for release five days after GamesCom ends) and Mini Ninjas, Square-Enix will be presenting a large number of high-profile titles; it's as if their entire stable of games currently in development will be on display:
- Final Fantasy XIII
- Final Fantasy XIV
- Dissidia: Final Fantasy
- Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers
- Front Mission Evolved
- Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days
- Nier
- Order of War
- Supreme Commander 2
Those last few are only published by Square-Enix, but you will certainly recognize the rest. Said Larry Sparks, Vice President of Brand, Square-Enix products:
"This year’s show promises to be unforgettable with world premieres and our most diverse range of titles to date. GamesCom 2009 gives us a great opportunity to share our most exciting upcoming games directly with consumers."
You may remember Square-Enix's purchase of Eidos a little while back, so when we keep saying that S-E and Eidos are part of the same company...well, that's why. Just remember that Eidos still has their projects and S-E still has their projects, so it's not an all-encompassing merger.

seriously though, I do love Dissidia (just from playing the demo) it has a HUGE nostalgic factor that may be weighing my opinion on it, but ...whatever! It plays like Advent Children ...has the best graphics I've ever seen on a handheld ...ever. Can't wait to pick it up.

Oh and I'm not surprised that FF Versus XIII isn't on this list. Now if it were...this day would have been the best day in this history of gaming.
Or at least...the day we see FF Versus XIII in action would be. PLEASE TOKYO GAME SHOW...PLEASE!!!
