Amazon Gives GT5 A December 29, 2009 Launch Date
We've often said at PSXE that we don't believe Gran Turismo 5 will hit store shelves this year, but in all honesty, the theory is based more on personal preference. ...if it does come out this year, it's even less time we'll have!
Last month, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi caused a big stir by saying they could release GT5 "whenever they wanted," and that they were fine-tuning and tweaking the production until it got as close to perfect as humanly possible. Obviously, everyone wanted to believe that this indicated a 2009 launch date, but we've heard no release updates since. One would think Sony has big plans for pushing such a huge PlayStation 3 exclusive, so any legitimate news would come with a big ol' banner headline. However, while we don't have that, we do have a date from Amazon.com, which clearly lists December 29, 2009 as the official launch date for GT5. Now, as PlayStation LifeStyle notes, the fact that December 29 falls on a Tuesday is a good sign; most games do release on that day. Still, it could be just another placeholder date and in fact, it's pretty darn close to 2010. It may seem odd to release a blockbuster the week after Christmas, but it has certainly been done before.
Sony isn't likely to comment on this - they "don't comment on rumor and speculation" - so we're just going to have to wait for the official word. We'll let you know what transpires.

Therefore, they should really be releasing a public BETA of some sort *before* this release date.
Some things I just KNOW they will need to address online are:
1. Losers disconnecting before the race ends, and not registering a LOSS on their record. (HATE THIS)
2. Party mode? (your group of friend stay together)
3. Same group stays together after a race ends, so you can quickly restart a new race?
Did I miss anything else?

just be patient.
if you can wait this long (how long has it been 5 years?)
im shure you can wait an extra 4 months.
but i doubt it because most sites have it as 2010.
and to back up the 2010 date EB game HBHIFI had the game listed as nov 2009 now they all have TBA 2010.
so obviously they got some info recently that told them a 2010 release date instead of 09.
which does not supprise me.
all they need to do is delay uncharted 2 and R&C ACIT and theve delayed all the games i wanted later this year till next.
the year that was suppose to be the best year for games, has been.
but for the wrong reasons...................

Forza 2 also came out two years later than GT4 on a more powerful console. You can't really compare them.
But if were doing comparisons, we could compare Forza and GT3, which received 92/100 and 95/100, respectively. We can only really compare them to each other when they actually come out. They both should be great though.
(The scores were from metacritic)
