Will U.S. Get Enhanced Version Of White Knight Chronicles?

White Knight Chronicles has been available in Japan for quite some time now, and we in North America are still awaiting an official release date, which should fall somewhere in the "early 2010" time frame.

But while we've waited, Level 5 has worked to add more to the critically acclaimed RPG. As some of you already know, they're prepared to issue what is known as the "2nd Wave" update for the game, and they've also announced a sequel already. As for the former, it seems a variety of Japanese gaming blogs have reported that a special WKC EX Edition will hit Japan in October for the agreeable price of 3,800 yen (about $40). This edition includes that 2nd Wave update, which features a ton of new equipment and items, and adds Georama while uncapping the Guild Rank. Now, this kinda begs the question: when we finally see Chronicles in this country, might it automatically be the EX Edition? Do they have the time necessary to toss in this extra content, or will localization issues once again act as a negative influence? We figure RPG fans in this country deserve it; they've waited for what feels like eons for this game. Furthermore, it doesn't help that the vast majority of titles released in this generation don't have to make the long, tedious trip from Japan and finally launch in the U.S. 8-12 months after its initial release.

We'll be interested to know what content WKC features when it becomes available here; this 2nd Wave update thing has really got us thinking... EX Edition? Great. Bring it.

The ex version is hopefully what we will recieve. We will be charged the standard 60 for the title so hopefully they give us the upgrade. If not maybe as free DLC.

They better give us all that content in the US version.

It'll be really disappointing of they don't. It could actually be disastrous of they don't. I can already see it getting a lower review score if they don't do this.

Possibly, like how we in Europe got the Dark Aeons in Final Fantasy X. That really brought the playtime up 100 hours more.

Nice. I wasn't very excited about this game at first but after further research I'll probably buy this on day one. Been playing Eternal Sonata for right now for my JRPG fix and I can't say I hate it.

Yeah Eternal Sonata was a nice starter game, nothing epic but it does the job and has it's charm.

They'd better give us the 2nd Wave "update" in the US edition because Sony does not have the space to piss off their fanbase as of this moment. 2010 is still a decent way to go, because I will be spending a few months getting a platinum trophy in the upcoming Demon's souls for my RPG fix.

I'm pretty sure NA WKC will be the complete package, including improvements and additional content. Probably that is why L-5 decided to pushed its release date back to Q1-2010.

Seems like everyone is simpatico here, if we have to wait a million years for localization then hell yeah they better include everything that's been released. It would net them more money to make everything a paid download but it would piss people right the hell off too. If I know Level 5 though, they wouldn't pull a fast one like that. Any tard knows that we know about these updates.

if there is indeed an EX edition with more content, that will make more sense to explain why its taking so long for the localization.

they better come up sth cuz we all deserve it by waiting so long and keeping the faith in this game

That would be great to have this edition :) I can't wait for this game I went to Ebgames here in Canada and I couldn't even preorder due to not in the system yet :( i was so upset but they said give it a few weeks they should see it soon in the database.

I REALLY hope this is the reason why we're having to until 2010 to play this epic RPG. I was so excited about playing WKC this year and was bummed to find out that it wasn't hitting until next year. Don't let us down, SCEA!

this is my most wanted game down from The Last Guardian.

Level 5 to me are the new master's of the RPG. They seem to create from the heart (unlike a lost other) and i hope it stays that way.

With or without the extras I'm buying this the day I see it. Of course it would be nice to have more for nothing, but it'll take me forever just to finish this game so why fret about the little extra they've added for their Japanese customers?

i wonder what the bias game informer is going to give as far as reviews for wkc.

i walked into gamestop today asking info about wkc and the first thing the guy told me is
"wkc sucks!" and than i asked him if he ever played it, than i asked him, 'how can u rate a game which u havent even played yet'
than i had to exit the store cuz it seems pointless to argue with that type of guy.

*i understand most game magazines are slightly bias in favor for one or the other

2010? Seriously? Its a good thing it will have tonnes of content cause it's already going to look old by the time we get it.
And to think if they hadn't taken a record amount of time they would have been one of the only big ps3 rpgs, now a bunch are coming out before it even though they weren't even on the horizon back when WKC hit japan.
Also why in the hell would anybody want japanese voices? If you understand japanese you could have just imported it over a year ago.

I thought they confirmed this already?

"Features like, an autorun feature and improvements to the targeting system. The extra online missions that have been released since the Japanese launch -- roughly two a month -- will also be on the disc. They're also adding in a town building feature for the online portion."

Should be an epic game when it finally arrives.
