PSXE Poll Update: GT5 To Be A Huge December Release
So with all this talk circulating about the possible launch date of Gran Turismo 5, we figured we'd ask the readers when this blockbuster might finally race onto store shelves.
As it turns out, the vast majority of you believe the latest bit of rumors and "inside info" that points towards a December release for GT5. There's little doubt that it's one of the most anticipated games of the generation and if it does manage to launch in 2009, it should make for the perfect PS3 finale of the year. Of course, it will also throw an added wrench into the works when we sit down to determine our coveted Game of the Year Award; a two-horse race (Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves) will likely become a three-horse race, and 'cuz we love our cars, the final decision could be extraordinarily difficult. But yeah, we're only speculating. Who knows what'll win or what will be in the final running? For now, it's enough to know that our readers are quite optimistic; they want GT5 this year, and they believe they're gonna get it. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
And now we move on to a controversial topic; it's another common subject of debate lately, and one you likely have an opinion on: what's your take on sex in video games? Recently, we've heard several contrasting viewpoints on the issue, and that includes Alpha Protocol developer Obsidian Entertainment, who said it's simply "part of human interaction," and to not have sex in games actually does a "disservice" to the role-playing genre. What say you?

Whenever it comes I'll be fine with it. I do really want it in December though
I think that's when they'll release it. But I'd be ok with a January-February release. A March release would hurt :(

IF the game calls for sex, then it should be there.
It truly depends on which genre though and how that genre portrays it. If it's an rpg it shouldn't be graphical, like seeing boobs and such. But that's fine in an action-adventure game.
It's tough...I guess the Japanese have the "best" guidelines for that :D

if there going to release it in december they may as well release it in january next year.
but i hope it will be supporting DTS,
its amazing how much better games sound in DTS.
burnout paradise use to support DTS the crashes OMFG you could hear the metal crumple, after the trophy patch they set it back to dolby digital and now sounds no where near as good.
all the games that sound really good are in DTS.
battlefield bad comapny (the guns in that game OMFG its like ive got a shotgun next to my ear)
resistance 2.
killzone 2.
haze.
even movies.
wanted weapons of fate and the dark night both supported DTS and there the best sounding movies ive ever watched.
enough is enough HD is standard.
5.1 surround sound is standard.
i think its time to ditch dolby digital and replace it with DTS.
my surround sound system supports DTS so why dont you?

It'll be interesting to see exactly where the ceiling for GT is though, I mean, I'm betting 2-3 million units the first week. No doubt about it. But, will that be a sustained sell-through? Will the people who got annoyed at the developement time, not buy it? As I said, it remains to be seen at this point.
I'm wondering though, remember the 2 versions of the game that Amar spoke of, when he wrote that wierd prophetic post? I wonder if the high-end version, will contain all of the cars unlockable through GT5M, given that not every PS3 owner, owns a PSP (Although, not giving them access would create a demand for PS3+PSP owners.). And then the 'normal' GT game, will just be the regular, with the PSP stuff still locked.
Anyway, going to be awesome watching this game rule charts for a time.

I also think PD needs to get this game out by this year...October.....December...anywhere in between...and I don't think any of those months would be considered a "rushed" release, given they've been working on this game for 5 years+...
Now don't get me wrong, I can wait as long as we have to...but I've rather not wait until 2010 to get my hands on this beast of a game.

The other thing is, GT5M is also quite likely going to launch at the same time as GT5, or very close to it. I read somewhere (it may have been here, but not 100%), that Sony may be looking at the launch of the Slim as sort of a reboot to the PS3 itself. They're basically at a point, where they can competitively price the PS3 AND launch it with all of the games that, circumstances allowing, Sony would've wanted to launch w/ in the first place. In addition, they have the reboot of the PSP ala, Go!. So, you've got two new bits of hardware, price cuts that are most certainly coming, and a slew of 1st party games that millions have been drooling over.
Yeah, I think the hold-up now, is Sony wanting to get it right this time.

.....p.r.e.....o.r.d.e.r.....
My wife just told me on Saturday she pre-ordered Madden from Amazon, and ours arrives on Friday. Consequently she's gonna end up with the sparkley of her choice and of course she rules. GT5 will be pre-ordered (two copies, his and hers) when we get closer to the actual date.

I really don't know what to say on the issue of sex in games. I'm neither for it nor against it. Just let the developers do what they want, within reason, and let the gamers buy it or avoid it. Either way I'm smart enough to know what rated M means.
