Rocksteady Studios Replaces IO As Hitman 5 Developer?
We've been waiting to get our hands on the extremely promising Batman: Arkham Asylum, and we don't have much longer to wait. But developer Rocksteady Studios may already be involved in another promising project. One we wanna see.
Although we had to suffer through the abysmal movie last year, there's no denying that Hitman remains a popular and critically acclaimed game series. It has long since been the property of publisher Eidos, and we had all assumed that developer IO Interactive would be working on the anticipated Hitman 5. However, things may have changed a great deal; remember, Eidos is now part of Square-Enix, and according to new information, it seems Rocksteady Studios may be in charge of the new Hitman. Joystiq found something interesting yesterday: the resume of British actor Mark Sloan, and his work history clearly includes motion capture work for Hitman 5. But as you will see, the developer is listed as Rocksteady, not IO, which means we have a lot of questions in regards to the actual design team. It's possible that both developers are collaborating on the project (multiple devs are working on Bioshock 2, for instance), but we can't be certain.
Rocksteady could really make a name for themselves if Arkham Asylum turns out to be as good as everyone assumes it will be. And this being the case, it'll be very interesting to see how they approach Hitman...

Though, considering IO have been working on 'Mini Ninjas' and 'Dog Days', they probably could use the help if they want to get 'V' out in the next year or so.
Oh, and even as a huge 'Hitman' fan, I still say the film was a fine one.
Unfaithful to it's source material? Yes.
Poor cinema? No. For that, all you need to do is see what indie film critics are raving about now.
