Valve Working On PS3? "No, Not In Any Real Way"
The last we heard from Valve, we had reason to be encouraged. We're not the biggest fans of the company or its boss, Gabe Newell, but it appeared that after a few years of ignoring - and taking potshots at - the PlayStation 3, they were starting to come around.
A Valve representative all but admitted they weren't up to snuff on Sony's new hardware, and they actually wanted to bring in some "PS3 guys" so they could really give the console its just due. Then there was talk of seeing Left 4 Dead on the PS3, and the corresponding rumor that the sequel might also come to the PS3. But in a recent GTTV interview with Geoff Keighley, Newell kinda brought the whole thing crashing down again. When asked if Valve was working on the PS3 and "trying to understand it" and "get better at it," Newell responded:
"Uh, no. Not in any real way."
It's absolutely ridiculous to assume that a developer who wants to make money would be biased, but we're starting to run out of options. This returns us to what Valve has said about the PS3 in the past (none of which is complimentary), and if any other major developer agreed in some capacity, we'd honor their opinion. But in the end, they just appear lazy and biased...there's no other way to look at it, is there? And you know what? As we've said before, we don't care. Oh darn; the new L4D and the seventy-third Half-Life iteration won't come our way; oh boo-hoo, Gabe, you made us all cry. Really.
P.S. No, we're not fans of the guy, but there will be no personal flaming or insults in the Comments below. Anything constructive will be fine, but just leave out the name-calling, okay?

But because he wanted to look like such a badass and talk trash about the PS3 in the early days he doesn't want to look like he was wrong(although that's already obvious), so know instead of being a man about it he is blinded by his own pride. Which is stopping Valve making more money so who is the winner here ?

The PS3 was not what the 360 was two years ago, but he must have been sure that it would fail as a console. Even if he wanted to make PS3 games now, he would have to get out of a pretty big hole that he dug himself.

Mind you, these were in the days when multiplat developers had no idea how to program games for decent performance on a PS3.

But hey, guess I'll just have to edit myself.
Just take one long look at his pic. First thing that comes to mind is a PERSON who is of that size who wants to turn the T.V. on but the location of the remote is 2 feet too far from him. So instead of getting up, he waits 2 hours stairing at a blank screen until grandma comes home and hands him the remote.
We all knew he was lazy...when your "like him" the quickest point from A to B is the fastest and least energy wasting way. (A la developing on a accessible machine like the 360).
For some reason...I keep seeing Porky the Pig in my mind...I don't know what could have made me think of that. SURELY it had nothing to do with anyone in this article...maybe just Deja Vu or sumthin...

$200 bucks just became $300 and you haven't left the store yet. Keeping in mind your paying for that LIVE every year so add on that cost too.
I say hit a torrent site and grab yourself a pirated copy of Left 4 Dead, show Mr Newell what being PC dedicated developer gets him. Pirated.
Left 4 Dead is great but so short it would just be a waste of 95% of a Blu-Ray disc anyway. It's a couple gig download at best, well no more than 9 gigs I'm sure ;) lol

LoL, I never thought of it quite that way.
I always thought "what are you guys talking about, I've compared costs and it's roughly the same, especially when you throw in Xbox Live costs and batteries".
That's why my reasoned thinking makes no sense to them, they are just plain nuts. Makes sense now.

What they need to learn is to avoid inflammatory statements about other systems, just like Insomniac, Sucker Punch, and Kojima.

PS3 + PC really is the ultimate gaming combo, almost all good xbox games are also released for the PC, and 99.9% of them are much better on the PC version anyway.
If you have a PS3 and a PC, there really is no need to get an xbox!

Honestly, that's truly pathetic. I was going to put some effort into a analysis of this, but in the end I thought about it and realized that as much as Gabe Newel and Valve think they matter, they really don't matter at all. I mean will anyone die in a ditch over a Valve game of any kind? Will anyone really lose sleep over whether or not Valve ever attempts to build a PS3 game?
So, in the end, all there is left to say is...
Whatever.

how about for once you put your head down, and start working on those games you promised us.
half life 2 eppisode 3 was announced how many years ago and we still have jack .... info on it.
at this rate its not going to be out till 2019 and we will have another 150000000000 articles of gabe saying no were still not making games for the ps3.
no games for ps3 FINE how about you make some games for the PC?

i wish valve would scrap the 360 and go back to their roots.
just focus on PC.
valve and ID use to be the kings of PC gaming now theve slackened off and gone to consoles, crytek are following suite.
i have a 3K PC i want to see what it can do, i can upgrade it to 2 nvidia 295GTXs if i need to i want to see what they can do.
if 1 nvidia 9800GTX = crysis i want to see what 2 Nvidia 295GTXs equal.

I think the PS3 is doing just fine with Killzone 2, Uncharted, Resistance, MAG, inFamous, Fat Princess, MotorStorm and a lot more! So why do we want to make a good system crap by adding Valve games?
I mean, look at the 360! (No offense, I love the XBOX 360)
The reason why Valve hasn't hired people to program for the PS3 is because they are afraid that they wont make much money on the PS3.. You know what? I agree! From all of the BS Valve has put on us PS3 users over the last few years, I don't think anyone would actually buy games made by Valve!
So if you think about it, not putting games onto the PS3 is sort of a smart move!
I mean, can you honestly say that if Valve puts Half-Life 3 or Left 4 Dead 2 on the PS3, that you would buy it? Honestly?
Oh and don't let my name fool you, I play every console. I actually play the PS3 and X360 more than the Wii!
Oh and one more thing, I am not a fanboy! :)

1. They take so long to make a game
2. The games they make are no where near the quality of action or FPS games found on PS3.
3. ALL their games are exactly the same!!! It's just half life re-skinned over and over and over and over again.
Left 4 Dead 2 seems to be getting more criticism than praise, and quite frankly, it deserves that criticism.
There's very little that is new with L4D 2. A few melee weapons and turn the lights on. Really Valve? Is that really the best you can do? AND it has Wii looking graphics!!! honestly, when I was watching footage of it on TV, I didn't know if I was looking at House of the Dead on Wii or a PS2 classic!!!
Sorry Valve. Bringing Left 4 Dead or its sequel to the PS3 will not get you my money. Not until you make a game worthy of my time and money. Orange Box on PC is the only thing you did right. You should stick to PC, get off your fat arses and do some work.
You're a game development company!!! What on earth are you doing if you're not making games?!?!?

10, Watch TV.
9, Play Team Fortress 2.
8, Watch Trailer Park Boys.
7, Sleep.
6, Watches Funny Cat videos on YouTube.
5, Makes YouTube remove the videos because Valve didn't laugh.
4, Rants at Sony.
3, Watches 'Family Guy'
2, Plays Hide-n-Seek with the TF2 Scout.
And the number 1 thing that Valve does is;
1, Eat.
PS: I was not doing any 'personal' flaming, nor was I insulting a specific person who works for Valve, I was making fun of Valve in general.
PS,S: I actually think Gabe Newel looks cool! I mean, I always loved Family Guy! (I'm not joking, I actually do think he looks cool)
Oh and Ben, the forum link doesn't appear to be working? It gave me a screen that said '404' and then it told me that the site did not exist.
Am I doing something wrong? Or is the forum down?

it's just lazy and shows you don't really have the skill to compete with other devs, hence why they blatantly don't work on the ps3. Just looking at l4d makes me laugh, such poor basic graphics, like playing a pc game back in 2002

weird,
in my pc Left 4 Dead all max running at 1440x900 60fps constant (i turn on the v-sync :) ) look very good and very fun to play (on multiplayer).
maybe you forget to go to graphic menu and choose high setting :)
btw valve is a PC developer. so why they make X360 ports but not PS3?
1. maybe because porting from PC to xbox 360 is a lot easier than porting from PC to PS3.
2. maybe because MS forced (payed?) valve to make xbox 360 version.
its just my opinion. dont take it so serious ;)

as far as i know the pc and 360 use C++ with the trubo compiler for example.
im pretty sure the language ps3 games are written in is different to C++, hence all the problems of porting it across
