MAG Officially Dated For North America
We've been waiting for the official launch date for what should be one of the most innovative and revolutionary online multiplayer games in history, and now we have it. Celebrate!
According to the PlayStation Blog, Zipper Interactive's hotly anticipated online extravaganza for the PlayStation 3 will hit North American retailers on January 26, 2010. Now, if you'd like to jump into the action before then, you can always head to downtown Seattle on Friday, September 4 for the annual PAX event. "200 lucky PS Blog readers are invited to attend the 256-person function and get hands-on with a new MAG map." But if you can't make it, you should know that the game is currently in the private beta phase, but will eventually shift to the public phase at some point. We're trying to secure information for this and if we can, we'll try and get some of our readers into the beta as well (but no promises). In the meantime, it appears that yet another massively anticipated title is going to drop early next year, which means you might want to be a tad more thrifty during your holiday shopping. Don't forget to put aside money for God of War III in March, too...
While I'm not the biggest fan of online multiplayer games, I'll have to see MAG. The entire concept sounds totally over-the-top, and this is one experience that ought to be entirely unique in terms of sheer size and scope.

Anyway, I'm not a FPS person, but we'll see. This is probably the biggest multiplayer FPS to date (not sure, so don't quote me on that). So it COULD be fun carrying out missions and stuff. Instead of quick kills, then you get killed a second later, and then respawn. This might be a more strategy based FPS multiplayer. So that alone could be really fun.
Still, GT5, Uncharted 2, Ratchet and Clank, Demon's Soul over this any day, for me at least.
