New PS1 Classics Include Oddworld, Syphon Filter 2, And More
Yep, more PS1 classics are headed to the PlayStation Network, for play on either the PlayStation 3 or PSP. The more that come, the more we can take a look into the past and go, "aw, remember that one?"
According to the Examiner.com, the ESRB has leaked a list of new PS1 classic titles they've re-rated for release on the PSN. This includes recently released games like Bloody Roar and the Tomb Raiders, but there are plenty of new faces...one of 'em is pretty weird-lookin'. Here's the list:
- Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain
- Bloody Roar
- Cool Boarders 2
- Cool Boarders 3
- International Track & Field
- Oddworld: Abe's Exodus
- Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
- Pandemonium!
- SimCity 2000
- Syphon Filter 2
- Tomb Raider
- Tomb Raider 2
- Um Jammer Lammy
For those of you who weren't around during the PS1 era, the Oddworld titles were some of the most impressive of the time. The original Oddworld was not only one of the best-looking games on the original PlayStation, it was also one of the most original and in my opinion, one of the absolute best. The sequels weren't too bad, either. Syphon Filter 2 is a great addition, as is Um Jammer Lammy (the sequel to PaRappa the Rapper, if you weren't aware), and those Coolboarders games were an absolute blast for fans. Gotta love our PS1 classics!

grrrr
ok
those are the things you will hear once you have started Oddworld. its hard to explain, youtube it!!
its basically a platformer, but an intelligent one, one that isnt your normal run, jump, hide and attack. its a story that will pull at your heart strings and lol while youre doing it.

I won't buy these anyway. I just need to find the time and motivation and figure out how to put my huge collection of PS1 games onto memory stick for my PSP Fat.

Parappa The Rapper on PSP, as far as I can tell, is identical to the PS1 classic. So, why would Sony sell one for $5.99 and one for $20-plus?
Also, ask yourself this, why release Unjammer Lammy, the sequel, for PSOne classics before Parappa The Rapper if you plan on releasing the latter at all.

The Wipeout games are another example of this, and FFVII shouldn't take too much away from any of the various FFVII sequels that have arrived.
I'm just thinking that it's like cross marketing something, the one supports the other, you know?

That said, I do miss the golden age of the platformer that spawned Ratchet and Clank.
What I would love to see is an RPG based in a conglomeration of the various game worlds with Crash, Spyro, Jak, Sly, Ratchet, and all their side-kicks along with the villains brought together for some mash-up, platforming fun with an RPG like story and character development. It would be a massive game.

now all i need is crash bash and ive got every ps1 game i want o and ape escape, was that ps1 or ps2.
this is officially the BEST week for game announcements, this better be true and they better come soon.
if its only for the US store, i will officially hunt down the people responsible for not bringing it to the AU PSN store.
