Take-Two On GTAV: Read Our Lips, We Have Nothing To Say

You know, when you get asked a question sixty-four million times a month, you're likely to get a touch irritated. At the very least, you're going to start making some sarcastic replies.

We have no idea how many times Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick has fielded the question, "hey, when are you guys going to announce Grand Theft Auto V...?" but we have the feeling Zelnick is a little tired of the question. Why? Well, when asked during a Q3 earnings call, Zelnick answered the inevitable query as follows:

"We’re not going to announce it. We’re not going to announce when we’re going to announce it. And we’re not going to announce the strategy about announcing it or about when we’re going to announce it either, or about the announcement strategy surrounding the announcement of the strategy. Any other questions?" (source- VG247)

Are you laughing? 'Cuz I am. This is one of the better quotes we've heard all year, and in all honesty, we can't blame the guy. We have no idea when GTAV will come out and we don't really need to know right now, so we'll give Zelnick a chuckle and a free pass on this one. We've got more than enough games scheduled for the next 6-8 months that are guaranteed to wow the crowds, so we'll wait patiently for any news regarding the next awesome installment in this now-legendary franchise.  As for the rest of the earnings call details, we once again get confirmation that L.A. Noire is indeed in the works (and it'll be "innovative"), and Take-Two was forced to post a $55.5 million quarterly loss.  Well, maybe the faster we get to GTAV, the better.

They appear to be stupendously frustrated in the quote from VG247. Perhaps they've had enough with the cross-examination from all the press.

They better take their damn time. GTA4 was a huge letdown for me. I still play San Andreas, I haven't played GTA4 in over a year.

I agree...I couldn't really get into GTAIV, and I thought graphically, it was nothing too special. Kinda made me apathetic about anything more GTA.

I beg to differ Ben. GTA3 was amazing for what it allowed. Almost no load times and a huge world to play on. It pushed the PS2 to it's limits and while the detail may not have been that high the amount of things going on at once was staggering.

Its obviously going to be multiplat so the quality of the game willl never be as good as PS3 standards :(

Ben's secret game? Maybe they will have different teams working on each one. But release it at the same time. Obviously people would buy the ps3 version if they had the choice (unless you were a 360 fanatic). But for the people who only have the 360 they can buy the 360 version. Kind of likie the wii and ps3 version of sports games. They are the same game but the ps3 version has better graphics.

I wasn't referring to my comments. As you can see I replied to Worlds post. I was referring to him getting a thumbs down. I understand I'm the thumbs down guy, I get it and I'm willing to take on that burden for the rest of you. But World's post getting a thumbs down was laughable.

All Rock star has to do, is release Lost and Damned, and The Ballad of Tony Gay to PC and PS3, and it'll definitely give them a nice cushion for the time being. I don't need GTAV that quickly.

Microsoft forked over $50 million for episodic content. The real question is, what exactly was the terms of that monetary exchange. I mean...$50 mil, is pretty paltry when you think about the size of the PC + PS3 market, and two DLC's that could be sold for 10-20/ea. I figure it's one of two things:

A) Timed Exclusivity of some sort
B) Rockstar will work it's way out by using the verbiage of the agreement to break said agreement. For example, MS gets exclusive rights to 'DLC', however, that's has no bearing on anything released via physical medium. Ya know?

If it's gonna be using the same engine as GTAIV, I'm not interested. They will just be extending GTA IV. That game is so long that i believe only a handful of the people here actually finished the game 100%.

Does anyone know if rockstar will be bringing DLC to the PS3 ever? for GTA4.
ive beaten it soo long ago and think im gonna sell it
no point in keeping it unless i can get a dlc addon like the ballad of gay tony

I would sell it if I was you. If they ever do release DLC for it on the PS3 by then you will be able to buy a used copy of GTA4 for under 10 dollars. That is if they ever do and I doubt it.

They don't have to announce a new GTA, I need some Max Payne3 info here! The RAGE engine with not quite over the top Payne action! I want to see some game play, I'm pretty stoked for the 3rd installment.

Whats all this hooo ha about Bruce Willis and Max Payne3? Honestly I thought Max looked a bit like Jeff Bridges from Iron Man. GTA4 is a steal at a great price these days, so much to explore and so many people to listen to and run over!

I agree that R* should bring some DLC to the PS3 owners... Their $55,5 million lost will shrink by a good couple of million if they do that. See it should show that the 360 exclusive content hurt them in the long run.

I started playing through GTAIV again recently and I must say I enjoyed it more this time round. Still p*ssed about certain things they left out and also the didn't really have enough variety clothes to buy from the shops...

Anyway after this play through I will trade GTAIV for something new unless we get ALL the DLC they have available.
