Another Batman Depends On Gamer Response To Arkham Asylum
Batman: Arkham Asylum is one of the best games of 2009 and quite possibly the greatest superhero title ever...and yet, Rocksteady Studios doesn't want to count their chickens before they've hatched.
As soon as most people got their hands on Batman, they wanted to see a sequel by the very same talented studio that provided them with such a technically polished and completely fulfilling experience. So this question was given to the game's lead narrative designer, Paul Crocker, in the latest VG247 podcast. His reply was simple:
"We’re just waiting to see if people like the game."
Um...Paul? Have you checked around the 'Net? Were you in attendance when Arkham Asylum brought home the Guinness World Record for the most critically acclaimed superhero video game ever? Granted, you don't have the official sales numbers for the first month yet (it only just released on August 25) but do you really think it'll be a sales failure? It had almost nothing to compete against unless you feel like counting Madden NFL 10, which launched a few weeks earlier, or Raven Software's Wolfenstein. Both of those are good games, but Arkham Asylum has been getting all the press.
Okay, PSXE readers, tell Crocker and the rest of Rocksteady Studios that the game rules, and they should make another one. Or maybe they should stay in the superhero realm, but try another superhero...how about "Superman: Fortress of Solitude?" You know, a bunch of thugs find it and break in when Superman is sleeping, or something. Yeah, we're not game designers - obviously - but Rocksteady knows what they're doing so we'll leave it in their capable hands.

Rocksteady has shown that they are fully committed to making a game as a good representation of the DC universe. So why not.

Really? My friends online like it, my friends that have 360's like it, hell even my cat likes it (she's watches the screen while I'm playing, kid you not). SEQUEL PLEASE!
Batman's rogues gallery has to be the tops in the DCU. Catwoman, Solomon Grundy, Hush, Ra's Al Ghul, Penguin, Two-Face (voiced by Richard Moll from the animated series of course), Clayface, Man-Bat, The Clock King, Mr. Freeze (Heart of Ice episode of the animated series was one of the best), hell here's a bunch of villains for the next game right here! Get Cracking!
