PSXE Poll Update: GT5 In 2009 Is Most Anticipated TGS Event
We expect a horde of big announcements at this year's Tokyo Game Show, but of all the huge reveals we're hoping for, most of you think Polyphony and Sony will give us the news that Gran Turismo 5 will launch before 2009 is out.
We have to agree, simply because we've had all sorts of evidence that semi-proves a 2009 release. If it does launch in time for the holidays, this would provide a huge boost for Sony and the freshly released PS3 Slim. We're already getting Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - which ought to really boost hardware sales all on its own - but if you toss GT5 into the mix, and factor in a few other exclusives, like Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time and Demon's Souls, Sony should have the definite edge. We'd also like to assume that gamers will look down the road into 2010 and see all the other exclusives on tap, which could translate to high hardware sales. Who wouldn't want a PS3 as a holiday gift (provided they didn't already have one)? But this leads us to this week's question: what about the PS3 will be considered most appealing by the typical consumer over the next few months? Remember, while we always like to say, "it's all about the games," there are always other factors to consider.
With Blu-Ray taking a prominent position in the home entertainment marketplace, one could make a definite argument for the built-in Blu-Ray capability and in the same vein, that free PlayStation Network is always a bonus (say "free" to a consumer and that's sometimes enough). But, maybe you're still going with the available - and future - software, or the obvious; the recent price drop. Vote now!

And as we all know...there's a not a single Gran Turismo that has failed in doing so.

I'm torn between "the price" and "the games", but I think I lean toward "the price". Sony's always had a great selection of quality games, but few real system-sellers on the order of Halo or Mario; even this year's great exclusives aren't real system-sellers, though the combined exclusives to date may be enough to hook some people. I think the price cut will drive more sales than desire for specific games.
However, if GT5 and FFXIII both release this year....

i would just sell it on ebay for 600 bucks, im going on holidays in 2 weeks time so i need all the cashola i can get.
but i doubt GT5 will be out this year, all the signs are pointing to a december release date if not sooner but what can i say sony love delaying their games.
i want it to release 2 weeks or so after forza 3 so they can be thrown into the ring and lets get ready to rumble, but i doubt it will happen
but my pridiction for the biggest TGS announcement is syphon filter 5.

Before the price drop, most people wouldn't even consider the PS3, solely due to it's price being considerably higher than the other consoles. But now that the playing field is level, consumers will actually ask questions about software and specifications.
And while software is a matter of preference (in many cases the deciding factor, and rightly so), I find it hard to believe that more than a minority of people would take into account all the factors of both the PS3 and 360 (we'll leave the Wii out of it for now), and declare the 360 superior.
