Free DLC Coming For Arkham Asylum
You know what? Sometimes it pays to stop and smell the roses...even if there don't appear to be any roses in the vicinity.
There's no doubt that Batman: Arkham Asylum is a fantastic game, and as soon as we began to play, we didn't have any real desire to sit at the menu screen and stare. I mean, we're not lunatics. But as it turns out - and this is a story you'll see floating around the Internet, informing all the impatient gamers about the missed update - there's an important message that pops up in just a few seconds. There's a news ticker at the bottom of the screen, and that's where it says the game will receive some free downloadable content in less than 9 days time (right on September 17, apparently). We haven't the slightest idea what will be included in this DLC, but for now, it's just enough to know it's coming. This is a game that could definitely benefit from new content, simply because it's always an absolute blast to play; nobody is gonna wind up bored. PS3 owners can already nab the free DLC on the Store that lets them toy around with the agile Joker, but we assume this fresh batch will be available for both the PS3 and 360 versions. Time to play fair.
So keep an eye out next week for some additions that will make Arkham Asylum that much more appealing.

*SPOILERS*
They repeated Scarecrow 3 times for christ's sake (not that they weren't good), You never even got to really fight Croc or Harley, and Bane was a total pushover. I'm sure that they're saving the rest for sequels, but in reality there were like 3 REAL boss fights. Kinda lame.

so in other words we cant confirm anything but were confirming it?
got to love PR talk.
i just finished this last night for the second time on hard, and i wish they would allow you to cancel your takedown move.
a enemys on the floor so you hit L2 and triangle you dive ontop of him than another A$$ hole punches you and you cant move out of the way.
youve got no idea how many times i have died because i cant cancel the take down move.
o and the doge response is extremely slow i hit x twice and 3 seconds later he dives, i died so many times against bane because batman would not doge fast enough.
and 99.9999% of the time spent playing the game, is spent wondering WTF am i suppose to go it gets really annoying walking around in circles for half an hour.
fix those 3 things, allow cancel of take down move, speed up batmans dodge, and add in a tracer or something like what KZ2 or dead space has.
change those 3 things, o yea and add a on screen map its annoying having to pause the game all the time.
change those 4 things and the game would be perfect.

I hear you on the response time for certain actions though, more than once I've hit the dodge button and watched helplessly as his long-ass legs get smacked into by a running, juiced up thug. But it was never more than once or twice per confrontation. As far as the take-down animation taking too long, you've got to choose your moments, or just mash the Triangle button when the other guy is about to hit you. Sometimes that slips The Bat right into a counter.
I have had a couple of instances of him hitting a wall and staying in the running animation, that's kinda annoying, but has never put me in a position of being in danger. But in a sequel that should be looked into.
Overall, I friggin love this game. The killer Croc level was just tense enough without being overly frustrating, I really enjoy the Scarecrow encounters, quite imaginative. Love pummling thugs too, throw 3 batarangs knocking down the armed ones, then glide down to kick one of the standing brutes, then into full whoop-ass mode. So sweet.
Dang, can't wait to get out of work and play some more :)
