Sega Signs Obsidian For Aliens RPG

There have been several famous names associated with the "Alien" franchise over the years, including James Cameron, Ridley Scott, David Fincher, and H.R. Giger, who created the nasty creatures from deep space. And now, after Sega acquired the Alien license, another big name - this time from the game world - is on board.

Sega announced yesterday that RPG specialist Obsidian Entertainment would be at the helm for their upcoming sci-fi RPG set firmly within the "Alien" atmosphere. The future game has no title as of yet, but we do know it's coming to PC and "next-gen platforms." Sega also hasn't given an expected release date, but in our earlier story, they claimed we'd see the first of the two Alien games before 2009.

The second of those two games will be a more traditional FPS, but Sega hasn't signed with a developer yet. Then again, just because it's not "official" doesn't mean the company hasn't been looking...several Internet sources, including Gaming Target, have pointed us towards the copyrights on Sega's Alien teaser page.

Obsidian is there, of course, but so is Gearbox Software, the developers responsible for the Brothers in Arms series. Both names were initially removed, but after the press announcement, Obsidian is back on the list. Will the same happen with Gearbox?
