Batman: Arkham Asylum Surpasses 2.5 Million Worldwide
Batman: Arkham Asylum was an absolute triumph - especially in the realm of superhero video games - and gamers everywhere have responded.
The gaming aficionados of the world continue to reward quality on a consistent basis, as according to GameSpot, Eidos has shipped 2.5 million copies of this top-notch game worldwide. Eidos had said the game was closing in on the 2 million milestone two weeks after Batman launched to widespread critical acclaim and now, after the recent release of the PC version, that number continues to swell. Eidos says they've surpassed the 2.5 million mark and you can bet that with the holidays coming on, Arkham Asylum will continue to sell relatively well. In August, the NPD said the game sold nearly 600,000 copies in the US alone...pretty damn impressive considering this title didn't release until August 25. If you already own the game, don't forget about the new DLC that has already landed; it exists for the sole purpose of enhancing the game's longevity. And we gots no problem with that. And let's not forget that the game's script was co-written by Paul Dini, producer of TV's "Batman: The Animated Series," and that's another big reason this production fared so well.
So, what's next for the new developer darlings, Rocksteady Studios? Well, we keep hoping they'll tackle a Superman project of some kind, 'cuz we're still reeling from that horrific N64 "effort." Yes, still reeling. Can't get over it.

I gave it a 15 min run at the store booth and there wasnt too much going on in that demo/level either.
Does it seem to amp up in intensity as the game progresses?

If you're looking for a straight up action game, I wouldn't recommend it. However, if you enjoyed the feeling of being a superhero that Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and inFamous delivered, this game is a must buy.
Oh, and my favorite line (so far... I'm maybe seven hours into the game)
Batman: "Joker!"
Joker: "You were expecting maybe Two-Face?"

Batman: Arkham Asylum should really be the model for all future superhero games because of the way they really make you feel like you ARE Battman. Ghostbuster is a good example too. I really hope this is the start of a new trend.

I do expect that Uncharted 2 will take the crown when it is released, though ;)

I doubt a large amount of gamers joined the market just for this game. Does this mean that the sales that went from Xbox to PS3 were gamers that actually own both systems? This is a interesting, cause that is a huge number.

And I'm still voting for a soul reaver/LoK sequel/remake.
I also wouldn't mind a batman sequel to focus on a few of the surviving and left out villains, with more gadgets, vehicles, and a tour-able gotham. And some more variety in the goons wouldn't go amiss, like if some were all plastered in glowsticks like in Forever.
Superman is just too cheesy for me to get into since he's pretty much invincible, even if that travesty of a 64 game could use a replacement.

An excellent game, very atmospheric with the best Batman/Joker voices in the biz. Though I wish they had handled the last boss better (I know Dini could come up with something more creative) it was a blast to play through and through!
