IW On Moden Warfare 2: "There Are Some Huge Surprises"

So Square-Enix won't divulge a secret hidden menu option in Final Fantasy XIII and for some reason, this is becoming a trend.

Now, it's Infinity Ward who says they haven't revealed everything there is to know about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Furthermore, what they're keeping under wraps isn't something small, either; they say it'll make you "completely forget everything" you already know about the game. According to what IW community manager Robert Bowling told VideoGamer, we've actually only heard about "20% of the game" and "there's a lot of sh** people aren't seeing." Yeah, we know what you're thinking: with all the press this project has received in 2009, and with the sheer number of questions the team has fielded up to this point, it almost seems impossible that anything even remotely significant remains a mystery. I mean, we've even got full gameplay videos so what's the big secret? Well, Bowling says the surprises are definitely a-comin':

"There are some huge surprises. What's awesome is, we've done all the press we've done so far, we've shown Cliffhanger, we've shown some Favela, we've set the tone of what Modern Warfare 2 is, and yet there is something we haven't talked about that, and the reason we haven't talked about it is because once you see it you completely forget everything we've already talked about. It becomes this whole new game. That's what I'm excited for."

We have no idea what they could be hiding, but we'd like to think we know what this game is about. Don't we? What could Infinity Ward be hiding that changes our entire view? We assume it's going to be a big deal so perhaps we'll hear about it at the Tokyo Game Show; they can't possibly keep it secret until the game launches in November. ...can they?

Im sure it may well be something good but once again we get an announcement of an announcement

PS I didnt mean that to sound like Im aiming it at you or this website Ben, I mean, devs informing us of an announcement they will soon make. Sure they want to sell units and get people excited but if the announcement was that huge then they shouldnt need to hype it up

I think lots of us are just tired of companies like this taking old worn ideas wrapping it in a new bow and calling it fresh. Maye they DID manage to add some new gameplay features, but the graphics look no better then they did in the 1st. Probably because they are already pushing the Xbox to it limits. I bought a PS3 the play the finest games that companies have to offer. At this point multiplats such as this are just mediocre Xbox games ported to the PS3. Especially CoD.

I understand that we ps3 users only want the finest games out there but you cannot deny that MW1 was a very good looking game, even for a multiplat. We are starting to sound a little arrogant with the I only play the finest games available. Infamous with pop-in and Uncharted: DF with screen tearing, had their flaws but they are still in my top five this gen.

Aah yes, an IW/CoD thread just wouldn't be the same without Godslim.

Modern Warefare was decent. Nothing revolutionary about it. The graphics were so so. Again nothing great. I don't think it's arrogant to demand the finest from the companies that want our money. If I wanted to play half assed multiplat games I would have kept repairing my Xbox. So far CoD has been pretty mediocre. I stand by my statement. Polishing a turd doesn't make any less of a turd.

@Jawknee - Not all Multiplats are shit, Tell me that Arkham Asylum couldent pass as an exclusive if you didnt know it was?

Modern Warfare was ground breaking with Awesome Multiplayer and an amazing campagin.

I love exlcusive games too for the same reason you do, Multiplats have to be designed so the lowest system can handle it, BUT if the developers are good at their job then they can make a Multiplat game that is great in quality.

I love me my Killzone 2 / Uncharted 2 and know they are not possible on the 360 but Modern Warefare 2 will also get some of my love!

Batman AA was a good mulitplat but it could not pass as an exclusive. It's got mulitplat written all over it. The Unreal engine is not ideal for the PS3. I liked the game, but it's not PS3 exclusive quality. I mostly liked it though because I love Batman. Had I not been a fan of Batman, it would not have been a game for me.

Btw I never said "all multiplats are sh!t". I simply stated that at this point in this gen, the quality of mulitplats has hit a stand still while PS3 exclusives will continue to excell. It's mostly because the developers have reached the Xbox's limits. So far, we haven't witnessed a 3rd party dev willing to do the unspeakable. And that's take full advantage of the PS3's hardware regardless of the 360's limits. Hasn't happened yet because of course that wouldn't be "fair".

But don't fret, you should know that all of us COD fans really appreciate your deep insights and value your nuanced opinions. Just keep it up and eventually you'll convince us your taste in games is empirically better than ours;)

most of the people here are just gamers in general. they're not fanboys of modern warfare so they might not look at modern warfare the same way modern warfare fanboys look at the game.

in my opinion, modern warfare doesnt need any more support,fanboys, or hype since it already has so much. doesnt matter how good or bad the game is, its just going to sell no matter what. and that's the whole point.

Having played the Beta, I think MAG can definately give COD a run for its money...and certainly give Activision something to think about next time they decide to screw PS3 owners by making DLC timed exclusives in favor of Xbox. Not going to win any fans there, and certainly get COD fans like myself looking elsewhere for a good FPS game.

could the surprise be that there will be loads of new multiplayer maps including ,zombies world war 2 weapons and to get access to them the biggest surprise of all you have to have a XBLA gold membership to access them. microsoft brown noseing infinity ward and activision is lame. I think we should consider ourselfs lucky enough to be even getting this game as the way microsoft are going they might want to buy the franchise and lets be honest if theres money involved activision will be looking at that and rubbing their hands like an excited fat kid does when he sees cake. lol

just for the record MAG is far from perfect at the moment but its a world of difference from MW2. The dynamic objectives and large battlesfields work really well. the UI isnt cluttered up and the game doesnt feel arcady it actually simulates being part of a bigger war really well. there are some things that they need to work on and polish up but lets just say MAG has the potential to be as good as if not better that MW2 multiplayer. and again thanks ben for the beta code. just ranked to lv 17 on evening session so am looking forward to abusing my extra perks as i now qualify to be a squad leader. 13 more levels for platoon leader though. lol

Its co op with a story that wont ruin the single player story.FTW! Different than World at War was.Its in this months OXM Magazine. No Zombies they stated that for sure,but even in article it says there is still more to be revealed.One thing they said was during co op mode in the snowmobile section you will be racing and shooting your friend.It will also have a level where one friend is on the ground with a laser designator while the other player is dropping the bombs on the targets.

I personally hated the zombie mode in World At War, so I hope that it isn't something similar to that.
Although, if it's aliens, that might be cool :)
And who cares what the "secret" is? We all know we're going to buy it no matter what.
