Dylan Jobe Warns Warhawk Cheaters

Few things ruin a rousing online experience like shameless cheaters. It seems they're like a virus that can never be killed, only contained.

Well, at least we can get some containment from Sony concerning the cheaters that will often infect the enjoyable online world of Warhawk. One of the game's original producers, Dylan Jobe, just recently made an update to his Twitter page, warning cheaters that Sony is now cracking down on those who are too cowardly and unskilled to compete with others on an even keel. Jobe's Tweet reads:

"Warning to all Warhawk "Cheaters" -- SONY is cracking down so for those of you that cheat, you are risking a Ban *and* a stats wipe."

This isn't the first time we've seen warnings like this; many other popular online titles have been accosted by cheaters, and if it gets bad enough, Sony or Microsoft will usually respond with an iron fist. No, they won't ever be able to completely erase the problem but when 99% of the matches are cheat-free, that's something we can all live with. Furthermore, in his latest Tweet, it seems Jobe - who recently left Incognito to form his own studio, LightBox Interactive - claims to have reached a big milestone in the production of his new game...which everyone is assuming is a sequel to Warhawk, also known as Starhawk. So hopefully, we'll be able to hear more about it soon.

I wouldn't even know how to begin cheating in a game like this. I bought it cheap, but I've yet to try it out. Looks good.

One of the most common ways is to find the glitches, but typically most people induce lag on there system/internet. Now Warhawk does have a ping number and if you fall below that you are booted but it doesnt get everyone.

Its brilliant, for a game that came out early in the PS3's life, it was extremely well-pollished, good graphics, almost lag free, well balanced and most of all, FUN!

Seriously it's addictive as hell

Wish the servers would fill up like back in the day, it had a lot of people playing it.

Dude, at the first ear of complaints they should auto-swipe the bastards. I remember the UFO crap in cod4. Take EVERYTHING down to their trophies their sorry asses achieved. No warnings, just a frickin spank in the glutes.

Sony and Konami should really, and I mean REALLY apply this to Metal Gear Online. That game is virtually unplayable because of all the cheaters. Now I'm serious when I say this, and I bet anyone who enjoyed MGO during the beta or in the early months of the game's release will agree with me, about 65%-80% of all games in MGO contain cheaters. No joke! I stopped playing it simply due to all those who exploit the many software glitches.

It is sad, because I really like the game and it has potential, but it feels like Sony/Konami has no desire to support it even though it accompanies one the the PS3's best exclusives.

Some people would Farm point. There was this one ribbon that gave 50 points to the winning team. What they would do is join one side and have a match for like 5 mins, but they would choose like a small map and select capture the flag, so in essence the game would end in like 10 sec. Everyone got points and if you wanted to you could have just left the system alone for the entire day and when you looked at it you would be on a real high rank. I think that's how it went. Not too sure.

Any way, I thought that they where going to release another map pack to make 4. I haven;t seen or heard about it in almost a year. What happened?

Yes people still play it. I grew tired of it but several friends to this day continue to play it. I'm interested in StarHawk, the rumored sequel.

I hate cheaters and glitchers in any game so Im glad something is being done about it in Warhawk. This is the sign of a good developer. To think the game has been out for so long and they are still improving it any way they can.
On the other end of the scale we have Treyarch; the mp in CoD:WaW was littered with glitches and they were too busy releasing premium map packs before releasing a patch to fix the problems.

Fun fun game!
Cheaters have always been a problem in warfare games...

Warhawk is actually very balanced when it comes to preventing glitches and such.

But yes, hope they ban the hell out of those who use lag to cheat.

I was playing the demo the other day for Warhawk, looked like a cool game but there was noone online to play it with...even made a thread about it in the forums here. Most people seemed to think it was a great game but complained about not enough servers running to play it...it really did look like fun though...could it be the cheaters have run people off from playing it? I'd of bought it by now if I thought there'd be anyone online to play.

i hated warhawk. i cant get into a game with no single player campaign. a video game without a story is like a movie without pictures man... might as well be playing solitaire. IN MY OPINION. im obviously in the minority... but it is my opinion.

dude the first time i played it i felt exactly the same way but for some reason the badass warhwak planes and easy learning curve hooked me up to that game! its really good!

This really isn't anything new. Warhawk developers have been trolling the servers looking for cheaters since it's inception. It's one of the reasons not many people have this thing platinum-ed. I have a guy on my friends list who was warned (permanently on his profile page) when he was boosting with a bunch of guys. Three of those guys had their stats completely wiped. This was over a year ago.

I have another friend who is in a clan and plays this game religiously, all of his stats are pretty legit. He just got the General rank and still needs 2500 air to ground vehicle kills for platinum. Some of the badges needed for this game are just insane.
