New Street Fighter IV To Be Unveiled Tomorrow?

Tokyo Game Show came and went, but there's still one more revelation left to be made. Although this one occurs days after the show comes to an end. And, as you've already read in the headline, it has to do with an all new Street Fighter. Okay, well, not all new, but in the nostalgic and traditional sense for Capcom, it is. This new Street Fighter game is actually expected to called, wait for it...and I hope you've brought your party hat from 1993...Super Street Fighter IV.

Yes, bringing back the Super prefix, this isn't speculation, so much as it's a leak that was eventually confirmed by Capcom. A picture taken by GamePro's German counterpart caught the eye of keen gamers, as they spotted, what was clearly a PlayStation 3 running Street Fighter IV. Except, the character on screen was not featured in SFIV, that character being T.Hawk. Capcom later went on to tease us on their Twitter, and then put up a teaser site stating an announcement would come Tuesday in Japan (Monday night for us Americans).

As opposed to being a stand-alone game, this could also be added as downloadable content. But, as it stands now, the rumor claims this new iteration of SFIV will boast 10 new characters (eight classics, two all new), in addition to a bevy of new features currently circulating around as a bulletpoint list. Something new for SFIV does exist, and it was being shown of secretly at TGS 2009. But we'll wait until the official announcement in order to post all of the rumored details, in which case we'll post them as a preview.

I've held off on buying SFIV precisely because I KNEW they would re-release it with a "Super" prefix and add characters and modes later on.

But could you please expand on your comment? Why did it dissappoint you? Aesthetics? Control issues? Balance?

Having an opinion is totally valid, but if you don't follow it up with an explaination then people are just going to downvote you and/or pass-over your negative comment.

Guy and Cody are rumored to be in it too! :3 Great characters those two.

By the way this is NOT Street Fighter V
It's SFIV: Dash or Super Street Fighter IV

So not a direct sequel, more like a new version.

How do I know nothing about it? How do you know what I know? It's not like I dislike SF or anything but it's been just a bit over a year since the game came out, what else can they add on to it without making it a new game all together? Turbo Mode? You can DLC that. New Characters? You can DLC that. Want to change a some difficulty around or balance out characters? You can patch that. This gen isn't like the older gen's anymore, Back then you had to buy a new game pretty much if you wanted a 'fix' in your game, not how it is anymore. Also shouldn't this come out on arcade first? lol

His approach may be arrogant, but I sort of share his opinion. I think only competitors should talk about SFIV or fighting games in general. Otherwise, they should be playing Super Smash Bros Brawl. It's not like it's an issue but why don't they take the time instead to make a new game and focus on it.
It is Capcom after all......, the 6th gen gaming only had one resident evil worth your time and that's Resident Evil 4 and it's the main series while others like Outbreak all those were just pathetic work when they could have focus on RE5, which is why RE5 wasn't a very improved sequel.

I wasn't at all interested in SFIV, but ...a Super SFIV with all those extra characters! Might be worth checking out. I used to rent Super Street Fighter II for the SNES from my local video store way back in the day.

Yay, more gasoline on the fire. Capcom needs to stop releasing these "expanded" editions so close together. They're making those of us who bought the original on day one feel cheated. So some paid $60 bucks for SFIV and now there's a bigger version coming out so soon. Capcom wants us to drop another wad of cash? No thanks.

That RE5 rerelease they are planning for Sony's motion controls better come with a patch for those who already bought the original game. I'm happy Capcoms starting to come around to the PS3 but jeez, they are raping peoples wallets. -.-

Yeah it might have something to do with them being one of those whatdyacallit.... oh yeah, a business. Seriously though, this is more than some rehash with add-ons. Aksys and SNK have been doing this for years with their Guilty Gear and KOF franchises. Only difference here is, this isn't just some standard upgrade. Of course, what we know about this upgrade is mostly rumors, but until the game actually comes out, save the rash judgments for something else.

Are they making you buy this game? Answer that question and take that negative attitude to some blog. I already know you have a strong dislike for Capcom, but how many ways do we need to hear it? Just saying, it's getting old.

just running with what I read up in the news, and if your wondering why I prefer downloadable content, it's cause it is cheaper than buying a new game. Kinda like when oblivion came out with the shivering isles expansion, yeah I could have bought the game of the year edition to get that expansion or I could just download it.

Well, I'm a big fan as well, but I believe I have a more thoughtful approach to my responses. But regardless, I just think any negative talk about a proven AAA game is worthless, and borderline flame-bait. It just seems like an ugly trend that won't die with gamers. Granted, this is PSXextreme so I expect a lot of favoritism towards games like Killzone and such. But I really think to pretend nobody else can really be excited about something other than Killzone, Infamous, or Uncharted is ignorant. I like this site because it has a lot of cool folks and smart gamers, but pretending multiplatform games and other third parties don't make a difference is ridiculous.

Have we all forgotten how to be excited about new games? That's what this news is to me. It's about a game I thoroughly enjoyed and still do enjoy online, getting an overhaul. I'm not here to change anyone's opinions, but somebody has to draw the line somewhere.

Fair enough, it could be DLC, but they aren't going to make you buy it. Personally, I loved the game enough that it instantly warrants my 60 bucks. If you guys really feel cheated, I suggest you tell Capcom. All the ignorance does is breed more ignorance.

i just dont see the point.
and this is why i hate capcom these days.
they have gone so cheap.
instead of doing a new game, they just milk street fighter IV with all the DLC possible.
the game was out in febuary and there STILL doing DLC and expansions for it.
release 2 3 DLC packs and enough is enough move on.
i really want my DMC5.
O and my remake of DMC 1 2 and 3 in HD with trophies.

And now you see why developers love online so much...it allows them cut a game but later force consumers to "buy more". In the end the developers win because they essentially found a way to screw-over the consumer...its almost like a druggie to a crack dealer relationship.

If this is true, I'd love for it to be a downloadable expansion. I wouldn't pay $60 for a bunch of new characters slapped on to the same exact game, but I WOULD pay $20.

The SF games are all great games, but hows about bringing back an oldie that people have forgotten about like 'Killer Instinct'...ok I know this wasn't by capcom or a ps game but it was alot of fun on the Nintendo back in '94!

Sure I would love to explain, well for starters I did appreciate the new artsy look of the game. I don't need 1080 all the time, although I didn't like how they looked as characters, all beefy. I know they're the BEEFCAKE already but I dunno I just didn't like it. The game-play was solid to me but some fights just seemed cheap and impossible to win, which is acceptable I suppose. The final boss, Seth is it? Is the most annoying creature on the entire planet, I hate, hate, HATE that guy with a passion. It sadly just ruined my experience, I nearly pulled my hair out fighting that douche. I do agree that SFIV was a step up in the franchise, it definitely evolved and that's great but maybe it just wasn't my cup o' tea. I know SF is the pinnacle of fighting games but I won't count Tekken out for a second.

Some people just don't get it. What we know about this unveiling is just rumors, and its worth should only be judged when the full list of features is released.

And from what I'm hearing, this is hitting arcades first, so no console release until 2010 probably. I doubt this will be DLC either. It's expected to have new combo features as well as those awesome bonus games that have been absent from SF games. Capcom just needs to add enough content for single player modes to keep casual gamers interested, then everyone's happy.
