Assassin's Creed II To Boast A New, "Exotic" Gameplay Element
It's one of our most anticipated titles of 2009, and all you who were saying the original was too repetitive should definitely pay attention: in addition to new abilities and missions comes multiple gameplay enhancements that should really flesh out the entire stealth/action adventure.
The developer walkthrough that debuted at E3 really impressed us; the gameplay variety takes center-stage and we're always on the lookout for new details. Well, how does an "exotic" gameplay element sound? We don't know what it is yet, but Split-Screen noticed the personal work experience for ACII game/mission and level designer, François Roughol. Here's the comment in question that has everyone guessing:
"Complete design of another yet unannounced exotic gameplay and its mission, from prototyping to final design."
We really thought we had heard about the vast majority of the gameplay improvements in this game, what with Ezio swimming and taking advantage of Leonardo da Vinci's latest inventions, but it seems there's a little something else to expect. Any ideas? This new main hero is far more agile and diverse than Altair in the original title, which is why we really can't wait to get our hands on Assassin's Creed II. Give us that "exotic" gameplay, Ubisoft!

last time i checked, the whole point of being a assassin was to swoop in kill your target and leave without anyone knowing you were ever there.
not dropping down and alerting 50 guards who start attacking you.
kinda pointless if the whole bloody country knows you were there.
prime example.
the part where you have to kill a target who is at a public execution.
you climb the rooftops hes directly below you, you could throw a knife and kill him, or jump down slice his head off and climb back up.
but noooooooooooo
the game makes you jump down and kill 10 guards before you can touch him.
before you can kill your target you have to alert the whole freaking world.

Wonder if AC2 will come with motion controls enabled and a mission specifically designed to use them? Perhaps an archery based mission?
Which reminds me in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, they have an aiming mechanic that uses one of the sticks. it looks like a perfect candidate for optional sixaxis motion control. Does anyone know if this is an option in the full game?
