Dead Space 2 Development Ready To Kick Up A Notch
Hooray for LinkedIn! We've gotten early clues about new gaming projects from that job tracking site, and this time, we learn that work on a Dead Space sequel is in the "pre-production stages."
Visceral Games is looking for a Lead Combat and Controls Designer for what is guaranteed to be the hotly anticipated Dead Space follow-up, and EA senior recruiter Jeff Ballard says "the core team is in place." The person they seek must be highly qualified in a number of different areas, and the game is currently ready to enter full production "in the next few months." The original was one of our personal favorites of last year and we've been waiting for news on Dead Space 2 for all of 2009, so we're plenty excited. Here's more from the job listing:
"This M-rated action/shooter sequel will set new standards for an action-packed story-driven console experience. Our team values are as follows: Gameplay comes first, controller feel is everything, culture of creativity, be highly iterative, playtest early and often, learn from failure, work fast and smart, and surround ourselves with the best talent in the world."
We like that: "Gameplay comes first." Well, of course. The other sequel we want to hear about is Mirror's Edge 2, simply because they provided us with one hell of a nice foundation for future building. But it's enough to know that Dead Space 2 may be one of the top holiday releases for 2010.

Dead Space on the otherhand caught me by surprise. Graphics are easier to look at then Bioshock. It took the RE4 and 5 camera scheme and built on it. Bioshock wasn't bad, it just didn't aww me and scare me like Dead Space.

EA set the bar really high when it comes to scary games this generation and not even Resident Evil 5 topped that bar. Dead Space was just that good and to a lot of people, it put EA games back in their spotlight
pearljamer, have you tried Dead Space?

RE5 just always felt like your legs were made out of lead. I hated the inventory system even more. I loved RE5 to be sure, but Dead Space got the controls balance right IMO. I'm thrilled to hear about this sequel.

Lets just say 6 guys (ages 16-28) + 5.1 surround + Dead Space at night= Priceless moments of "OH SHIT!" and "DUDE WATCH OUT, DUDE WATCH OUT!".
lol Good times.
As for a sequel to ME I will also buy it on day one as I did with both DS and ME last year.

It is rediculous how many times I had to save my partner in RE5, and I know that if we were seperated and it is as hard as the first one, alot of peole will be very mad at this game
I would love the option though

With #1 being Fallout 3, and #2 belonging to Uncharted 1. I have a feeling that Uncharted 2 will take the top spot (and not because of the multiplayer TDM types).
Back on topic.
I do NOT want a deathmatch style multiplayer on this title. Co-op of some type? Yes. But please, concentrate on making the sequel's singleplayer mode even better.

The gameplay objects could have been more varied too. Once I hit the 4 fourth chapter, it dawned on me that I had been doing a lot of maintenance on the ship. I know that Isaac was an engineer and so the entire purpose for him to be on the ship was to fix things, but there could have been more various objectives than there were.
Those are my only complaints with the first game. The second one will be amazing! Another day one purchase for me. ;)

I hope this is something that Visceral Games can accomplish in Dead Space 2. Although, I'll love it even if they don't.

I mean, when you beat it, the story is pretty much closed. What is the sequel going to be? Isaac Clarke goes to yet another abandoned ship and shoots necromorphs again? They'll have to bring in some weird story elements that I don't think will relate very well (if at all). Just leave it how it is, I say.
Dead Space was awesome, but I would hate to see it fall to the clutches of sequel syndrome.

And like some of you guys already mentioned not even Resident Evil 5 topped that one in my opinion. Don't get me wrong I really enjoyed RE5 but Dead Space gave me my Horror/Action fix more than what RE5 did. So I'm sure Dead Space 2 will be epic....

first being doom 3 and second being fear.
fear 2 just sucked donky balls that was extremely dissapointing, besides the gore that was brilliant.
i remember reading a article way back saying mirrors edge was being looked into buy a few people at dice, and will go into full scale production once battlefield bad company 2 is out.
so we shouldnt have to long to wait till mirrors edge 2 is announced, id say E3 next year.
and EA 1 more thing.
GIVE ME MY BLACK 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
