Sony Has Put Pressure On Polyphony To Release GT5
There is often a great deal of pushing and pulling going on between developers and publishers when it comes to releasing high-profile titles, and as far as exclusive titles go, they don't get much more "high-profile" than Gran Turismo 5.
Not surprisingly, a recent Meristation interview with Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi, as reported by GameZine, shows that Sony has been putting significant pressure on the designers to get GT5 out the door. The game has been in development for over five years and while we've received large demos in the form of Gran Turismo HD and Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, Sony still wants the final product in stores...badly. Many rumors indicated a possible 2009 release but as it turned out, the hotly anticipated racer was announced for March 2010 in Japan; US and European regions are expected to get it not long after. In the end, Yamauchi called the pressure "unbearable:"
"Not in terms of content, but the pressure really, if we can call it that, of the delivery dates are sometimes difficult to bear."
Yamauchi goes on to say how he sees his team at Polyphony as a close family, but at the same time, he wants to satisfy Sony as he has made many close friends there as well. It's these professional relationships that clearly have an impact on Yamauchi, and if we were to hazard a guess, we'd say he was caught between both sides: on the one hand, Sony is essentially begging him to finish the game, but on the other hand, Yamauchi doesn't want to push his team too hard. For our part, we're okay with March; we're just a little disappointed it didn't make it out this year.

After reading it you will come out with a huge appreciation for Kaz and PD, and will understand better the reason why its taking so long. The interview is long but worth it.
Oh, look in the comments section as I had posted there as well revealing how I how about their hard work.
Kaz also talks about GT PSP and how they used car renders from GT5 for the game play and stuff.

What could be taking them so long????
Even Killzone 2 and MGS4 didn't took this long being a PS3 exclusive........
At least they're better than Capcom......
Only one canonical RE series showed up in the 6th gen........and we get 60% of the same thing years later... What the ****?

Just read the interview and you will not be disapointed by the hard work. Hell, NASCAR vehicles are getting full damage like rollovers and well if you've ever seen a NASCAR race you know how crazy the crashes are.

Why? What's the point?
Afterall, it is just a video game. It has no bearing on life, so if a development team wants to make sure their project (in which they are so passionately involved in) is the best it can be, so be it.
