Uncharted 2 Ad And Promo Campaigns Kicking Off Everywhere
I think we all know that Sony really needs to step up this holiday season and do some promoting, what with the recent PS3 price drop, new PS3 Slim, and very hot Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
Well, they're starting off on the right foot because Sony isn't trying to hide their plans for marketing Naughty Dog's awesome sequel, as evidenced by the European information from Electronic Theatre. There's already a teaser trailer on TV over there but starting on the 12th, a full-length trailer in full high-definition will broadcast for one month, and it'll even be seen during the England World Cup qualifying matches (that's like the NFL playoffs for us). Added to this will be various cinema campaigns starting on October 23, plus ten-week sponsorship campaigns of both Sky One's Friday Night Movie and the Discovery Channel's "Adventure & Survival" shows. Then of course you've got the online and print advertising, which will include the likes of the Official PlayStation Magazine and some informational plugs and news articles at your favorite sites (like the PlayStation Blog). We've already seen a commercial for Uncharted 2 here; it features some dude who has a hot girlfriend and believes the game is a movie...which of course works out for both parties. It's pretty funny and worth watching..."yeah, we're gonna file this under 'not an issue.'" HA.
But anyway, the point is, gamers in all regions should start seeing the campaign blitz for Uncharted 2, and that's exactly what Sony needed to do.

i remember early this year i went to a killzone 2 event where 2 of GG games developers where there showing off the game.
exactly the same with what sony did in the US this week except we did not get free copies of the game :(
sony needs to wake up and stop being so tight ass and arrogant.
people outside the US have bought ps3s too.
you know, its funny i bet you 500 bucks when LA noire is finally out.
it will 1 be released first in the US and second if there is any early playtests they will be exclusive to the US.
even though LA Noire is being developed 20 minute walk away from my house in bondi.
Teamco did it with ninja gaiden 2.
raven software did it with wolfenstien.
epic did it with gears of war 2.
bungie did it with halo 3 ODST, and had a FULL SIZE warthog working.
that was so fu**ing cool shame i dident go.
if all those developers can spare the cash to bring their games and developers here SO CAN SONY!
thats one of the main things i hate about sony, they refuse to spend money unless they absolutely have to.
well sony YOU HAVE TO SPEND MONEY TO MAKE MONEY.
honestly i reckon i could walk around do a survey for 2 weeks asking if people knew what uncharted 2 was and 50 bucks says 99% would say no fu**ing clue!

Sony Australia is probably hoping that PS2 owners would automatically upgrade to the PS3 but little do they know majority of them have jumped ship to the Xbox 360. Way a go Sony.
Its really sad that the PS3 in Australia now is like what it was in the US 2 years ago, where people thought that the PS3 is too expensive, they dont know its a blu-ray player, they dont know if it even comes with a hi-fi. WORST of all, they dont even know that PS3 has all the F***ing kick-ass AWESOME exclusives. Trust me, if I were the CEO of Sony Australia today, there would be advertisements and bloody PS3 gaming conventions all over Australia just to educate the people here.

there are no gaming conventions here in oz are they?
sony actually did a good job for ratchet and clank future tools of destruction.
there was heaps of TV adds and adds at bus stops even on the side of buses.
same for infamous.
but besides those 2 SCEA does not know how to advertise their games.
my freaking dog could do a better job.

Therefore, Sony needs to get the msg out. In order to do so, they should have probably something like an expo/convention in Top shopping centres across Australia. They should set up different booths to display one of PS3's top features. For example, one booth to showcase PS3 as a blu-ray player, another booth to showcase PS3's top exclusives and so on. The point here is to educate people. That way they can use a powerful marketing tool which they used and depent upon in the past: Word of Mouth. With more consumers being informed of the PS3 capabilities, they will no doubt past on the msg. As said earlier, majority of Australian have no idea what a PS3 can do. For crying out, let me pay the CEO of Sony Australia a visit. Its not like its rocket science to market the PS3 aint it? Come on Sony Australia, whats wrong with you?
Besides that, Uncharted 2 deserves an ad which showcase a trailer of the game as good as Hollywood movies' trailers with orchestral music playing in the background to create the intensity. They should then put the ad in Cinemas in between movie trailers shown before a movie starts. Then after the trailer, they should show the latest sony ad on Uncharted about the guy's gf thinking the game was a movie. At the start of the trailer, they should remind the audiences that all footage shown are in game graphics, and also be proud and let the public know that so far it has 17 perfect review scores. Like I said, they need to educate and inform consumers.
