Rumor Debunk: God Of War Collection Still Set For Fall

It's easy to get rattled when the retailer tells you a game initially scheduled to arrive in a month has suddenly been pushed into March of next year.

This happened yesterday, when several sites and PSXE readers noted that the God of War Collection, supposedly set to release some time in November, had been delayed until March 6, 2010 according to the GameStop database. This is easily one of the most anticipated releases of the year, even though it's not technically a new PlayStation 3 title; these high-definition remakes of two classics from the PS2 era are gonna be huge. Therefore, if they didn't arrive for the holidays, we'd consider that a significant blow to the PS3's massive Q4 potential. But as Sony's Jeff Rubenstein told PS3Center, this must be a mistake on the retailer's part because, quote: "The release date remains Fall 2009." That's not an exact launch date of course but at least we have confirmation that it's still scheduled to arrive this year. Of course, there is the possibility that SCEA might decide to release this collection alongside God of War III in March; it makes some business sense, even if it leaves us temporarily disappointed.

We'll be sure to let you know when the God of War Collection receives a solidified date. If it is indeed hitting store shelves this year, that information should come along soon.

i had heard no such thing and just about a half hour ago i was on gamefly and saw that while lookin for games to add. i didnt add it though cuz i plan on buyin it lol

i dont want this along side god of war 3 i want it now so i have something to do while i wait for god of war 3.

Hmnmmm...
I'm a bit skeptical. It's supposed to be released "this Fall", yet there's no media, no screenshots or anything. I smell delay.

It seems to me they'd be hyping it for awhile now if it were truly being released within 1-2 months.

Like GT5...I'll believe it when I see it.

Of course they'll release it this year; makes more sense for those who aren't familiar with the GoW series to prepare themselves for the March finale.

It does't make sense to release it close to GOW3. I need more trophies. I own god of war 1,2,but never had the time to play. I hate gamestop because of their employees.

Maybe they delayed the game so they could remove the hades spike column climb from GOW 1. Seriously, there should be a trophy for getting past that abomination.

it makes absolutely no business sense.
most of the people i know have already played GOW 1 and 2 and are only getting this to tide them over till GOW3.
heed warning sony delay this game and you will be cutting your sales in half.

god can sony make 1 game and release it on its original date.
not everything has to get set back you know.
in fact, delay eyepet so i can have this this year.

PS3 games are region free, it's the Blu-ray's you have to worry about. Amazon/ebay is your friend. ;)

Question: If he imports the game from America, can he still get trophies playing the game on the EU network? I mean, since the game isn't released there and all, maybe they don't have the GoW trophies in the EU PSN.

Maybe an American who imported Demons Souls can answer this quesion.

Also it wouldn't make since to put the game along side GoW3, because the collection comes with the GoW3 demo. But I think they should push it back to December, the gamestop where i live has the preorder date to be 11-10-09... =|

Wow, I thought the 11/10/09 date was firm. Amazon has had it listed for a while now. Definitely needs to come out this year though, we need time to enjoy the greatness of the GOW series!

It's nice that we've got something coming in Nov - Dec, even if it is a pair of PS2 games. Thank god the GT5 people aren't in charge of it, they'd still be screwin' with it until next summer.

I want some type of screenshots or trailers for this game, I just dont get what it will look like. Graphics like gow3? Or just ps2 graphics scaled to hd? Give me something!

Had to be sure, It will not be like the GOW 3 graphics you may have seen. Expect the same polycount as the original PS2 version but with better textures, particle systems and fonts coupled with a solid framerate and full anti aliasing all geared up for a HD display.

I am still waiting for Bens review on God Of Car lol Ben that still makes me smile hehe :)

Got to keep an eye out for this on Ebay or somewhere online not coming to Europe for some bizare reason ?
