Mass Effect 2 Headed To PS3 After All?
When it comes to console exclusives, there will always be surrounding rumors that pertain to the multiplatform possibility. Such has been the case for Bioware's popular and critically acclaimed RPG, Mass Effect.
Now, when EA snagged the title, most PlayStation 3 followers believed it was all but inevitable: surely they would bring the sequel to Sony's platform; EA simply doesn't believe in sacrificing sales for the sake of console exclusivity. But when Mass Effect 2 was announced, EA only revealed versions for the Xbox 360 and PC, which came as a big disappointment to some PS3 owners. However, since that time, we've seen multiple rumors and pieces of evidence that point towards a PS3 release for the hotly anticipated sequel, and the latest comes courtesy of RPG Site citing the Russian branch of EA. As you can see, Mass Effect 2 is listed as coming to the 360, PC and yes, the PS3. Furthermore, UK retailer GAME also has a PS3 listing for ME2 in their database and combined with the other piece of info, has sparked plenty of discussion. We've always wondered why EA would cut out nearly 25 million potential customers by ignoring the PS3 but perhaps they had their reasons...maybe they're just waiting for the right time to announce the existence of the PS3 version.
On the other hand, this could all be false information. We're hardly the only ones who find it hard to believe that EA would produce a console exclusive title this generation, so maybe those retailers are just assuming. But if they're right, it's yet another great RPG that's headed our way.

And the saved ME games will only carry over your choices, not your levels. They have said that you will start over with all your powers due to an unannounced plot device. They could always just ask you what choices you made the way it was done for KOTOR 2, thus not requiring the first ME to play. Otherwise how would they handle those 360/PC people who never played the first game?

The ideal would be both games on one disc, but how often does the ideal manifest?

bringing ME2 to the ps3 without ME1 would be incredibly stupid because
1 most people will want to continue the story and understand whats going on.
2 they will want to continue their save file, if they still have that feature.
and for those reasons most people wont buy it.
what would you do?
buy ME2 on the 360 and get the full experience.
or buy ME2 on the ps3 and have no clue in hell who the characters are or whats going on.

All kidding aside ME is great you're right but Demon's Souls is beyond words. I highly recommend that you pick it up and give it a go if you are into mind bendingly challenging games.

I loved ME1, just not enough to play through it for like a 4th time just to be able to pick up where the 1st left off in part 2.
I am quite fine with it just coming to the 360. Consoles need exclusives. Period. It makes the games better in all honesty, because the dev team can focus on that particular consoles strengths. Sony exclusives might be better but there is no denying that there are 360 exclusives that really do shine.
All that said if ME2 does come to the PS3 then I suggest everyone buy it. The first game was great, and the more people that buy the second if it comes to PS3 the more likely the devs are to port the original, and bring the third installment over as well.

Also, Mass Effect 1 would need to be released on PS3 before ME2, so PS3 owners can still continue with their save game from ME1 when starting ME2. That would be sweet.
But I still get the feeling this is all rumour and speculation, nothing but a mistake on databases. I work at EB and there is definitely no listing for ME2 for PS3 there. Either EA can't hold it's leaks or it's just a big mistake by these stores who thought multiplatform meant 360, PC AND PS3.
