SOCOM: Confrontation To Receive Cold Front Add-On Pack
It has turned out to be one of the best online experiences on the PlayStation 3 and if you're a long-time veteran, you'll definitely want to download the new Cold Front downloadable pack.
Freshly detailed at the PlayStation Blog, this add-on pack features plenty of new features and content; it also "brings a brand new snowy Eastern European area of operations into play with two all new maps and three classic SOCOM maps for 16 to 32 players." You'll face blizzard conditions and either choose to side with the mercenaries or the Russian Spetsnaz, and you can also give Arms Run a try; it's a new game mode where you have to either activate or destroy "dynamically placed missile launchers." As for new content, we'll get a new thermal vision scope attachment so you can track your foes, gun turrets emplacements, an all new character specialization/progression system, new music, 3 new weapons and 6 "enhanced versions of weapons," and not surprisingly, a new batch of Trophies to earn. If you want it all, it'll cost you the fairly standard price of $14.99 on the PlayStation Network, although we don't have an official release date just yet. We expect it to arrive relatively soon, though.
If you haven't played Confrontation yet, just be wary that it is designed to be quite realistic; in other words, if you get shot twice, you're probably dead. If this doesn't appeal to you, stick with Warhawk.

On topic, glad to see the new map pack finally coming soon. Hopefully the two new maps are good, but I wish they would have just remade Sandstorm and Fish Hook instead, maybe even Sujo (would love to see it in HD because I think it would have a lot of potential to shine). I will say though that Night Stalker along with the other two I mentioned were all in my top 3 most wanted remakes of maps, but Blizzard and Vigilance are pretty good too.

Socom is the largest onliny multiplayer game as far as players on the ps3, so you ur pretty much telling a majority this game is crappy! I will agree though that $15 bucks is a little steep, if it were $10 might be worth it!

a cross between MAG and killzone 2.
mag is good but it needs some changes and tweaks and additions.
first of all you die so god dam easily, i stopped playing it 2 weeks ago because it was driving me nuts.
every bloody corner i turned i died, just got so frustrating.
take MAGs layout weapons level system all that, and through in changing games like KZ2 has, add in spawn grenades and portable turrets and you have the perfect game.
id like to see zipper go back to the socom series once finished with MAG.
i loved socom 1 and 2,the single player campaign is one of the best available on ps2.
dont ignore your fans zipper, dont forget what made you famous in the first place.
its time socom took back the crown.
