New Movies Include Hitman, Kane & Lynch, Just Cause
Money talks. The "Hitman" movie may have gotten lambasted by critics, but when a film tops $100 million at the box office and rakes in another $80 million in DVD sales, that's a big ol' green light for a sequel.
And because it was so successful, Hollywood producer Adrian Askarieh is not only pursuing another "Hitman" movie but he's also tapping into more Eidos productions, including Just Cause and Kane & Lynch. He talks about all these future projects during a recent GameDaily interview and if you're an action buff, you ought to be psyched. Of course, Askarieh reminds us that he's independently producing the "Just Cause" film so there's no knowing when that might arrive (or how good it will be), but he's calling in the big guns for "Kane & Lynch." It has taken a while, but filming will finally start in March...with Bruce Willis set to star as Kane. That alone should sell tickets. If you're wondering, Timothy Olyphant may or may not return as the "Hitman;" there may be scheduling conflicts as he's in a new television show for FX. They may need a new lead for that and if so, might we suggest either Jason Statham or Vin Diesel? Either would fit the role and perhaps more importantly, give it some real star power.
But who are we to judge? About sixty gajillion people obviously paid money to see that movie so perhaps Askarieh simply needs to pump a movie out that holds to the very same formula, regardless of the cast. Ah well.

hitman has always been a favorite of mine, and kane and lynch was not too bad, definitely could use a sequel.

i thought this was one of the better video game adaptations, right next to silent hill and the first resident evil... i'll be looking forward to the next one... and timothy needs to come back as agent 47... he totally looked the part, perfect casting IMO...

The problem with the 'Hitman' film (for me) wasn't a grand lack of quality, but instead straying much too far from the source material.
And while Vin Diesel and Jason Statham may be a lot closer to 47 in physicality, having either of them in the lead would likely encourage the filmmakers to make the sequel even more of an action epic than it's predecessor and even less the saga of a silent assassin.

You got it.
It ain't about the stars, its about being true to the source.
Don't think about money, don't think about the man in the suit, just stay true to the idea whilst it translates to film.
They will never get it right and i will never forgive them after mocking Silent Hill.
