Ubisoft Doesn't Rule Out Conviction For PlayStation 3 Owners
While PlayStation 3 owners can always look to the masterpiece that is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Xbox 360 owners have the competition in the form of Splinter Cell: Conviction.
Labeled as a "true Microsoft exclusive," the next entry in the Sam Fisher saga is scheduled to arrive on February 26 for the 360 and PC, with no mention of a PS3 version. In fact, developer Ubisoft Montreal only recently said that there are currently "no plans to have Splinter Cell: Conviction on other platforms." This dashed the hopes of many a PS3 owner, especially those who love highly polished stealth/action titles and have enjoyed previous installments in the franchise at hand. But in a Videogamer interview, Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat has resurrected that lost hope with a simple, noncommittal reply to a direct question. In response to the query, "Is there any hope for them [PS3 owners] regarding the game?," Mallat said:
"There is always hope."
When pressed, Mallat responded that he "can't predict the future," but it's still "good to hear that people who can't play Splinter Cell are willing to." Yeah, you want our theory on the matter? Conviction has been in development for a long time; since the start of this generation, really. At the time, the Xbox 360 had a growing user-base thanks to a one-year head start while the PS3 labored during its initial launch (2007 was a rough year). Ubisoft saw this and were easily swayed by the idea of going exclusive with the 360...now, with the user-base gap shrinking with every passing day and 25 million possible sales existing amongst the PS3 crowd, Ubisoft almost wishes they could take back that exclusivity deal.
Just a thought. We're probably wrong...

The XBox360 has Splinter Cell & Left 4 Dead.
The PS3 has FF14, God of War, Heavy Rain, The Last Guardian, Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank, Socom, AGENT (Rockstar), Killzone, Resistance, Motorstorm.
Which would you rather have???

between the buying up exclusives, and the times exclusives, and the horrible ports, and retarded devs like gabe newell slacking cus of the ease of development for the 360, it really has in the big scheme slowed down the vid. world!
there is a slew of first party and PS3 exclusives coming out and all the ones that have this gen (excluding haze, although it was more of a dissapointment than a bad game) have stepped it up, and further pushed boundaries, and made awesome gaming experiences, while the 360 exclusives have slowed to a halt it seems like or end up on the ps3 later. and the muliplats although the horrible ports, are mostly gone seem to be demenished in sorts because of the 360. now b4 i go on i wanna point out im not bashing the 360 but what i am saying is there is an obvious scheme going on and that is that the 1st party games being released for the PS3 are of excellent quality and are amazing everyone! while some mulitplats are shaping up nicely this holiday, being MW2, and AC2, the fact cant be ignored sony is releasing AAA games left and right!
it might just be me but i think things would be alot dif. if M$ wasnt money hungry, and stubborn. its not necessarily the 360 fault, but M$ has a way of making good things go bad, and even worse making bad things look good! i actually kinda felt bad saying that about M$, i dont know if its remorse or because its actually true?!?!
if this game was meant to be on the PS3 we will see it and i will play it otherwise i will have plenty to play over the next 6 months, and im sure even beyond that!

M$ is treating the PC like the bastard child.
like the games for windows epic failure, or the cheap crappy port of gears 1 or the absence of every halo game since 2.
i seriously can not believe bungie have stuck with M$ after all there hardcore PC gamers, what they have done to PC gaming is unforgivable!

Obviously, there's no comparison in terms of storylines and artistry in general. Kojima wins (and will probably always win). But I have to say, I've played every single Splinter Cell through to completion, and it's simply more authentic and realistic in terms of gameplay. The controls are also more fluid and more accessible.
I'm not saying it's better than MGS - both MGS3 and MGS4 are two of my favorite gaming experiences ever - but Splinter Cell is a LOT better than you guys are giving it credit for.

though i really dont want this to come to the ps3, if it does i will no longer have a reason to keep my 360.
O besides crackdown 2.
each system needs its exclusives, the ps3 has MGS4 so let the 360 have splinter cell conviction.
still one of my most anticipated titles of next year.

Don't get me wrong, this is a first-day purchase for me on the PC as it's looking to be one of the best titles next year. If SC: Conviction IS a timed exclusive - I hope the port would be handled excellently (just like all other "timed" exclusives).
Sorry Ubisoft, you're just going to get a *yawn from most of the PS3 owners out there. The PS3 exclusives that are coming out next year have garnered ALL of the attention. So stop teasing us and just stick to where your guns are at. If you intend it to be an exclusive for the 360/PC then just end it there.
