"Exciting Announcement" For PS3 Version Of Dragon Age

The PlayStation 3 version of Dragon Age: Origins has suffered through a hazy existence over the past month or so. We heard it wouldn't be releasing alongside the Xbox 360 and PC versions, which is always cause for concern, and we still don't have a concrete launch date.

So what's up? Well, maybe it's not bad news we're awaiting, but surprisingly good news. As noted by Kotaku, it seems the Bioware team has some "exciting news" regarding the PS3 version; it's essentially an announcement for an announcement but that's okay. If it's "exciting," it can't possibly be bad, right? Perhaps they'll tell us that in fact there is no delay for the PS3 version, and that it will be available on launch day next month with its 360 and PC counterparts. Or maybe they'll give us a later release date, but PS3 owners can expect some extra bonus content, kind of as an apology for the delay. Who knows? Personally, I've been skeptical from the start because Bioware isn't a company that has a lot of experience with the PlayStation platform, and in all honesty, I wasn't surprised when I heard the PS3 version had been delayed. That's almost like saying a PS3 game by Valve (if they ever make one) got delayed. It just wouldn't be shocking; Bioware has always been more of a PC/Xbox developer, which may have caused problems when making Dragon Age for the PS3.

But this news is encouraging. This announcement should be great for PS3 owners, especially if they're RPG fans. You can only play Demon's Souls for so long, I assume...

I hate it when games get delayed or suffer from behind the scenes glitches and so the devs force feed us anouncements about anouncements T^T just gets on my damn nerves and it'd better be worth it.

hmm, i won't be getting this game but i hope it comes on the same day as 360 and pc because....well it's just not fair to ps3 owners then.

The delay is actually working in our favor. We got two extra PS3 exclusives compared to all the other platforms. I think the 360 get Forza 3 and GTA DLC. I don't think PC got anything.

Now I have time to play these October game more, rather than have another long RPG thrown in my stack of games to play.

Now back to Demon's Souls.

It would be interesting to know what the deal is with developers like this. I'm know nothing about programming, but it seems cheaper in the long run to build an engine specifically for ps3 or purchase a license for someone else's, than to waste money on a port. If this is a port.

I'm with you on that Advent Child. I'm well over 100 hours myself. Of course though, I'm relying on Demon's Souls to occupy my spare time until Tekken 6 is out.

well according to IGN its been pushed forward to release with the other versions.
but anyway, O and thats a easy choice, assassins creed 2 of course.
theres plenty of RPGs out there, but very few open world sword fighting games.
all i can say is GONDOLA CHASES!
seriously, how can anyone not want to play a game that has gondola chases.
thats going to be so cool!

And the announcement is... Hopefully mouse and keyboard compatibility so we can get the old Baldur's Gate Feel. That would make me happy at least. On the other hand... My Baldur's Gate Shadows of Amn nostalgia is making me get it on PC. Anyway... 2 weeks isn't that bad. Especially when we have U2 and DSouls to keep our attention.

I preordered the PC version as well. I also enjoyed the original Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale series and this sounds like it'll be played in pretty much the same way so I'll feel right at home from the get go. Can't wait to play around with the editing tools that will be included as well.

Duuuude I was just playin icewind dale in april, game was sick, so was part 2. Bauldurs Gate: Dark Alliance and D.A. 2 were super fantstical and I await the day DA 3 hits the PS3.

well i dont care if its delayed for whatever reason, im ussually ok with a little tech glitches, like found in sacred 2! although that game was decent and entertaining to me the glitches it had didnt bother me too much! as long as the experience is worth it ill deal!

this game looks good and im really intrigued by it, and ill be playing the hell outta it also! this is good news, i hope its something unexpected though, like the first set of dlc included! i know oblivion for ps3 luanched a lil' later than the 360 version but the PS3 copies included knights of the nine quest which was epic, so maybe something along those lines!

Well, it just could turn out like CAC: red alert 3 with better graphics and special add-ons but usually 360 versions are more exicted due to the fan base

yea good find. two days ago i was at gamestop website and it said the 17, now your right it says the 2nd!

side not: i just called my gamestop and they said its the 2nd and there computers just updated also! woot, im glad it comes out b4 MW2 now gives me some time to play it!

There's supposed to be a live chat on the Sony PS3 Blog with Greg Zeschuk and Ray Musyka today. The "exciting announcement" will probably occur there.

The "exciting announcement" is out of the bag. The PS3 version of Dragon Age: Origins comes out on the same day as the PC and 360 versions: November 3. It was confirmed by Ray Musyka just now. Let's hope it isn't some "inferior" port.

after reading the interview the devs had on the playstation blog i cant wait for this game! they sound like they worked really hard on the ps3 version to get it out on side by side release, and to get the game to feel right on the PS3 console! not to mention there will be dlc released same day as the game, and they said it will run the same on all consoles which means it should have zero problems to complain about, as we thought since PS3 vers. WAS delayed!

sounds awesome and this is the first rpg ive been excited bout since umm fallout 3. im always hesitant to say rpg but technically it is i guess! and my roomie has demons souls so im just waiting to play it! anyways respect for bioware now if i can only get mass effect and MA2 ill be even more happy about them!
