Bayonetta Slices It Up On January 5
Due to an early leak, we all just assumed that Bayonetta would release in North America on January 5, even though it officially still held a "January 2010" launch date.
Well, the leak was indeed accurate and now it's official. The slam-bang action title with a seductive heroine will be on store shelves on the 5th for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360; it'll launch three days later in Europe. Sega is also offering some pre-order incentives so be sure to check with your local game retailer to see if you can take advantage. Remember, this is the game that caused a big stir when the 360 version brought down a perfect 40/40 score from Famitsu (the PS3 version scored two points lower), and it is without a doubt a top-notch hack 'n slash title. Said Mike Hayes, CEO of Sega America and Sega Europe:
"Traditionally high scoring games in Famitsu go on to perform very well at retail in both Japan and the rest of the world. PlatinumGames set out to deliver a game that redefines the 3D action genre, and we feel that they have set a benchmark for future games in the genre to aspire to. We chose a January ship date for BAYONETTA as we firmly believe that it is the best time for SEGA and our retail partners to launch this exciting new IP in the West, and push for a number #1 retail slot. BAYONETTA is a huge title for us and the perfect start for the New Year, both for SEGA and gamers across Europe and America."
This appears to be an excellent way to pass the time until March arrives and God of War III assaults our PS3s. And besides, being big fans of the Devil May Cry franchise 'round these parts, we're more than a little excited about Bayonetta. Do we care there's a female in the lead role, doling out the pain? Nah. She looks good, right? ;)

I'd rather support Sony's first and second party AAA exclusive games lineup! There are already a buttload of them coming. Btw, has anyon seen the pics from GOW3 demo? That game looks sick man and to think that it's from an old build. It's simply outstanding!

This game, at least for me, may have been interesting to me if there weren't so many other "must-buys" coming out. I've already spent a pretty penny on R&C:ACiT and Uncharted 2 so it's gonna be bittersweet when I pick up AC2 and MW2, not to mention the all-too tantalizing God of War Collection. Thank god for Christmas. (Yeah, that's right. I said Christmas.)

im not completely disappointed in sega, but i am wondering why platinum wouldn't handle the port. they're the ones who developed it. the game could've turned out better. wait, better question: why didn't they develop each version separately? that way each version could take advantage of their perceptive console. was it to cut back on costs? beats me.
i have to agree with u guys: with high quality games the ps3 has, exclusives and some multiplats (like batman & blazblue), why is the ps3 still getting messy ports? i don't dislike bayonetta. i'd still like to get it (maybe not for the ps3), but i think famitsu needs to redo their review [on both versions].
boy i had a lot to say :P ...but hey, i was a potential fan. now i'm a pending one.

My point being I don't understand what happened to the team. Madworld is an over-simplified brawler and I can smell Bayonetta's cheese through my computer screen. I mean, Kamiya and crew created the original Devil May Cry. They made great games. Rare lost its magic after most of the 64-bit era (Goldeneye) team left the studio, but from what I know, most of the Clover team is now at Platinum games. What happened?
I guess I'm disheartened with seeing what's happened with such a great team.

ahhhhh have you checked EBs website in the last few months?
i swear to god these people just berry their heads in their game and dont pay attention to the competition, i bet if i asked them when mag comes out they would have no clue.
even though its date was announced for the US at least like a month ago.
50 bucks says come next year some games are going to be set back AGAIN because theres to many games clustered together.
talk about mindless sheep blindly following the Shepard.
December has.
the avatar and the saboteur thats it.
January has.
Darksiders.
Army of two the 40th day.
BLUR.
heavy rain (yea i know, longhot but thats what it says)
MAG.
o what am i saying, its quite obvious a game will sell better going up against 20 other games, than being released in a month where it has practically no competition.
what was i thinking?

modnation racers
gran turismo 5
bioshock 2
white knight chronicles
march
battlefield bad company 2
crysis 2
super street fighter 4
april
last guardian
god of war 3
eyepet????
They dont have a choice but to release it early in january when christmas money may still be in people's hands unless they go and buy games that they had to pass because never had the money. In my opinion, march would've been a better choice because the game lineup isnt as strong compared to january, february, and april. but then, january and february could might as well clean people out.
yeah, i dont even know when the hell FFXIII fits into all these.

1)You give us a crappy port...expect low overall PS3 sales.
2)You drop your game the same day as a PS3 exclusive...expect low initial sales.
Respect Sony. Respect the Cell. Respect the 3.

Back on topic: I've always looked at this game as a rental. And so far its staying as a rental. I think I'm buying Darksiders, though. That game looks like GoW's long-lost cousin.
