Dead Space Sequel Set For 2010?
We all assume that EA is working on a Dead Space sequel but for the record, they haven't officially announced that project.
On the other hand, we've seen evidence to support the idea of a sequel, as developer Visceral Games recently began adding staff members to apparently begin work on Dead Space 2, and now we have another unofficial confirmation from a Reuters news report: it quite simply says that the hotly anticipated horror sequel will ship next year. We're not entirely sure how they know this - they don't cite EA as a source - but it'd be great if the game did arrive on store shelves in 2010; it was one of our favorites of 2008, certainly. Unfortunately, EA did not corroborate the Reuters story, telling GameSpot that the information was merely "speculative." The original Dead Space had sold 1.4 million copies as of May 2009 and EA considered this number to be decent, but the Wii version (Dead Space Extraction) has done poorly on the sales charts.
Well, that game requires the capability of the PS3 and Xbox 360 to be fall-out-of-your-chair creepy, so while another Wii entry may be in question, we're fairly convinced that Dead Space 2 is indeed on the way. The only question is, when...?

Edit: Hmmm, improvements huh? Well no game is perfect. Let's see...
1.More enemy types. I was scared s**tless by the blackened, tougher necromorphs but in hindsight that wasn't a whole lot of diversity. The Lurkers (flying, tentacled baby-necromorphs) must make a return and you MUST be able to drop kick them.
2.Give Isaac a voice. (To anyone who thinks Isaac will not return for the sequel, I respectfully disagree.) You could hear his pain and oftentimes be able to tell what he was feeling, even behind his mask. Give him a voice and the narrative will enjoy a great uplift.
3. Keep giving us easter eggs. Deciphering the Unitologist language and actually getting something for it caused a few giddy moments.
4. Quit pulling the "It's dead, really!" gag. You walk up to a dead body only to see it jump up and attack you. While I don't think this was used too much in the original, I would begin to get annoyed if it made a prominent return in the sequel.
5. Give us more melee options. This may or may not work in the overall experience, but if they can make it work it would be hugely beneficial.
5. Lastly, make zero-grav even more exciting. It was cool in the original but you gotta keep it fresh. It was one of the things that made Dead Space stand out; make it even better!

Horror genre must only attract a select few I suppose. Either that, or Wii owners that wanted adult games, got fed up and purchased a PS3 or 360. I should know, as I am one of them. Bought a Wii when it first came out, then bought a PS3 this year.

But you right...I am that guy. Expect if there is no line, everybody already seen it (since Episode 5 came out in 1980), and you're still behind.
I came ruin other games your behind on if you like. How about...Uncharted 1? CoD4? Fallout 3? Oblivion? Resistance: FoM, MGS4?! <cue the crowd gasps>
Seriously, I didn't mean to spoil anything for you. I assumed ppl interested in this sequel -reading these comments - beat the game (that came out 14 months ago) already. I apologize.

I felt that the game was excellent but got the feeling that it was a lot like work instead of pure enjoyment.
With Uncharted 2 I got to the end and thought I can't wait to play it again. With Dead Space I got past a hard bit and thought jeez I don't ever want to have to do that again!
Maybe I wasn't playing it properly but I always felt understrength and never seemed to have enough ammo. I know that was probably the point but I would get to a room with two dozen big buggers and I would only have enough rounds for half of them. Here we go again!
Starting to think I should have stuck with it till the end... May pick it up cheap if I'm ever feeling flush...
Thanks for the spoiler by the way!
What's the etiquette with spoilers? Are you allowed to talk about the endings for games over a year old or is it a no no?
If its two years I would just like to say how much I hated the zombies in Uncharted! Totally identified with the comment in Uncharted 2 when Drake said they'd better not be a zombie round the corner!

dantes inferno is not due out till late febuary.
in fact i dont think a developer has ever released one game, announced another and release said game in the same year.
visceral games are the best 3rd party developers so if anyone can do it, its them.
dantes inferno is looking fu**ing amazing!

Dead Space was the only game that had me scared to put the disk in. Also, I played the game on the hardest mode available the first play through. That helped with the fear...
