PSXE Poll Update: Who Says Stories Aren't Important?
If this doesn't prove that PSX Extreme has a very unique community, absolutely nothing does.
While we all know that gameplay is always the most important factor in any video game (this is an interactive hobby, after all), we wanted to know what you guys considered to be the second most important element. And we were certain that graphics would run away with the most votes this week; we can guarantee it would at most every other major gaming site on the 'Net. But we kinda forgot how many RPG fans we've got around here, and just how excited many of you are about upcoming games like Heavy Rain and Final Fantasy XIII. Oh, and let's not forget that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, a game that was essentially defined by its outstanding story, is also greatly beloved 'round these parts. Graphics did come in third and it was sort of close, but the fact that story is so important to so many should only prove to developers that we really do appreciate quality scripts, excellent character development, and well-implemented and choreographed cut-scenes.
This week, considering that Bayonetta has been in the news a lot, we're just gonna ask: who do you think is the hottest video game vixen of the generation thus far? Of course, we can only give you 10 options so we can't satisfy everyone but we tried to hit the highlights. And while we realize that girls like Bayonetta and Madison from Heavy Rain haven't graced our TV screens just yet, it's plenty easy to check 'em out...Madison has been topless already, remember? So who gets your vote? And oh yeah, because all the Dead or Alive girls are designed to be perfect, they're all included in one category.

Now, a female lead or supporting character, such as Elena Fisher, is very attractive because they are more like real women, and not the exaggerated, non-symmetrical fantasies of adolescent boys.

I am currently playing Fur Fighters for ps2 for the 3rd time. Good god is that game amazing. The story is nothing to brag about, the audio is good, but not great (awesome music though), and what is online play?
While playing Fur Fighters you realize that the game is bigger than just a bunch of levels. Its completely subliminal and hard to pinpoint, but theres a certain depth to the game that is more than just a few individual parts.
Had i not been playing Fur Fighters again i would have voted for Story.

How can you make me choose between Nariko and Meryl
I'd so go with Meryl if she hadn't gone with that jackass Jhonny -_-
Nariko for the win! Long swirling red hair!
And yes story is one of the most important things in games. Not all genres need it, but it's very important in the genres that do.
You can't tell me a half assed Final Fantasy X would've been as fun
or a dumbed down Zelda: Ocarina of TIme
Those games are on a level of their own just because of how amazing the stories are

And, what happened to Rosie or Selvaria Bles from Valkyria?
How can you have Girls of DOA, unless I missed something, there hasn't been a DOA game on PS3.
Considering the choices, I suppose it'll have to be Chloe.

Like I said about the DOA Girls, this generation? I understand the nature of their appeal, and the nature of the DOA eXtreme Volleyball game, but I still don't remember seeing such a game on a Playstation platform this generation...just sayin''''

And Majority is on Chloe????
Damn you Ben!!!
How dare you "Chloed" the others!!
Anyway~~~~, I voted for stories too and the reason is that I think story is the one thing that keeps you in beside gameplay.
A good game with good gameplay can make me sit in front of the TV for a while because it's addictive but I can always quit since I know it won't be my last day on earth.
A good story on the other hand, actually makes me stay, like for example, I started gaming at 11am then plan to stop at 3pm but I somehow ended gaming till 7pm because the story sucked me in.

If it werent true Ben we may have been offended, but seriously take every awesome game youve ever played (minus fighters for the sake of argument) and remove the story and see what your left with. for me im left playing something i couldn't care less about. if the game has no story it has nothing to make you care about what happens to the people in it and it is of the utmost importance when im playing a single player game that i can relate to the characters, it just adds to the overall enjoyment of it.
i dont know if you're fans of quentin tarantino, but 1 reason i love his movies are his excellent character dialogue he portrays them in a way that makes you relate to them and then you actually start to care about what happens to them.
so pretty much excellent storylines convey the fictional emotions creators conjure up into you. i bet you cant guess where my vote went LOL.

For this poll I'm going with Rachel from NGS2. I might have gotten killed a few more times than I needed to, just so I could watch some of her cutscenes again :)

1 - Immersion: If the game does not bring me in, I will get bored. In my opinion, this can only be achieved if what I listed below is at high standards.
2 - Gameplay: It has to be a non frustrating ordeal.
3 - Graphics: I have a 65" HDTV for reason.
4 - Story: Helps pull me through the experience.

I might've vote for length too, because I'd want my games to have a long lasting appeal to it, and this can also fit with every type of genre.

As for hottest video game vixen so far this gen, I'm going to have to say Elika. As a gay man I can appreciate her aesthetically pleasing features and personality. She's never in your way and best of all she hardly ever speaks unless you tell her to. That's the mark of a good woman. lol

-When I say the sound: I meant the music, and so I hereby say that Nobuo Uematsu is a genius.
-When I mean presentation, I mean the way everything that obviously presents itself, from the presentation of pre-rendered art, to cutscenes and how they present the script and characters.
Why? Those two are the main features that made the Final Fantasy franchise so...trancing.
And don't say the story is the main strong point of the FF series. Sure the depth and longetivity is there but if you gave the plot of any FF game to any other developer, the game would be considered a bunch of actual plot-hole cheese.
But yeh, everything that happens in the games really keep you in, and this is caused by the mysterious force that causes the infamous Final Fantasy Syndrome, and that is is mainly due to the presentation that drags you in combined with the melancholy music that leaves you vulnerable and exposed to the everything else in the game. In short, Final Fantasy games can be used as a perfect analogy for AIDS [only the effect would be ultimately opposite]. Mmm. FFS. Final Fantasy Syndrome.

^And this is why SO many people prefer their first Final Fantasy [with a few exceptions]; it's because the awesomeness from that certain FF game hits them fiiirst. I'm thuper therial. I read a comment of guy who told story of how FFIV affected him. The funny thing is I was affected the exact same way when I was a kid with FFVII.
