Bad Company 2 Beta: November 19, Exclusive To PS3

There's a whole lot of PlayStation 3 love floating around out there. First, we learn Sony and Ubisoft have decided to push the PS3 version of Assassin's Creed II together, and now:

You've probably heard about the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 beta rumor, but that has now been clarified. As announced at the PlayStation Blog, this beta test will be coming exclusively to the PS3. The game's associate producer, Gordon Van Dyke, says that starting November 19, those who own Sony's console will be able to sample the huge "Africa Harbor" map that allows up to 24 players to go at it. The mode in question will be the new "Rush" game mode and you'll have to push forward "across a variety of different locations." How do you get in? Well, you can continue to frequent the Blog as they'll be handing out a few beta codes, but you can also pre-order the game "at a participating retailer." Lastly, some game sites will have a few codes to hand out as well, so feel free to check out places like GameSpot and IGN. If you enjoyed the original Battlefield, there's a damn good chance you'll love the sequel so here's your chance to get involved early.

Bad Company 2 is slated to arrive in March and while we know there are other massive titles set for that time, well...you can always take out a second mortgage, or something.

I hate how these companys make us jump through hoops for a key, they want us to test their game they should just give them to ppl, remember whos doing who a favour

i dont see preordering the game as jumping through hoops. how do they know who wants to play their game? do they just spam people with keys? i mean we have to show interest on our end too dont we?

Between Call of Duty and Halo the 360 owners have really no room for the beta... thus a PS3 only Beta makes more sense not to mention this teams got 5 year of experience on the 360 so putting extra effort on the PS3 version shouldn't cause any kind of unbalancing of development.

Ben, in regards to Assassin's Creed II being pushed on the PS3, I have read a survey out there that owners of the XBOX versions of Modern Warfare and AC, are going to purchase the PS3 versions of MW2 and ACII at a much higher rate than PS3 owners of the originals are going to purchase the 360 version. That is a major story that you should follow up on.

It is a huge sign of the state of mind of gamers and what system they are preferring to play the biggest games on! Dare we say it? 2010 the year of the PS3? Ok, that is a cliche by now, I just couldn't help myself.

well that is just cuz all those people got rrod and dont want to get their 7th 360. so they went out and got a PS3 for the first time and want those games.

as for the PS3 people... well we still have our first PS3, no need to go backwards and get a 360 for these games.

That is kind of funny. I personally know quite a few people that are going to be getting these games on the PS3 instead of the 360 whereas they had the 360 versions before. And yes it does seem that it is a matter of not wanting to re-up Live Gold subscriptions on the MW2 front.

I have one friend in particular that, much like myself, is not buying Gold memberships anymore now that Netflix is on the PS3. And on that note my disc is getting here tomorrow so apparently all systems are go on the instant queue for the PS3.

As much as i loved the first bad company, im gonna have to pass on it since i dont have the money for it right now and I'll be busy with modern warfare 2. I'm even passing on the gamestop exclusive MAG beta access because it starts on the 9th of november, the same day as modern warfare 2 releases.

After all the crap IW/Activision have thrown at the PS3 and PC, it's nice to have a company actually acknowledge the PS3 Owners and give us a tad bit of respect. I might just buy BF:BC2 for that reason alone.

ive just been watching the new bf2 trailer on the uk psn and im really glad they have sum antialising on it this time ..although im alittle annoyed these keys are handed out to just a lucky few ..why not just let everyone have a go? hand the keys out on the day mw2 comes out just to ruin the party.. hehe

EA has been treating the ps3 very good since last year, mirror's edge and dead space deved on ps3 and ported to the 360. first gameplay of dantes inferno was ps3 gameplay(so im assuming ps3 is lead platform), and bioware making games on the ps3(you know mass effect is coming eventually)

and i believe ea has been most profitable with the ps3,i hope they keep it up:)

I think this will be better then MW2 it wont sell more but it could start a Call Of Duty like buzz so it gets a bigger and wider audience...i say EA give Ps3 some DLC...only on Ps3..

love to get a key.

I wish they would increase the maximum number of players though. I felt that a couple of maps were to big for 16 a-side.

I'm sure I'll still enjoy though.

Well EA knows what they are doing now with this. I mean BF mCO was an awesome game but BETA IS exclusive for the ps3 only now that's a jawdropper for xbox fans because ven though ea game slike Dead SPace and Bad OCmpany sold better on the 360 it the quailty of the ps3 EA looks at.

just watching the bfbc2 trailer again on the uk psn and i believe the actual in game footage seems to be from an xbox360!! due to the controller icons popping up at the bottom when playing...i thort this would have been a big NO NO!!

I'm more excited for the Beta than I am for MW2, oh and DVE your comment was a FAIL. BC2 will be soooo good, tactical destruction, vehicles, a chopper with a Minigun, Massive Maps, and finally character customization. You cannot go wrong with Bad Company.

i just played bad co this morning. packed servers. this game is still going strong!

btw. Dice did mention that they were doing the beta on the ps3 only, because they're pc devs, and have no issues on the 360 side. as far as the ps3 online experience with battlefield games (Bad Co and 1943), they need to address dropped and garbled mic issues, first and foremost.

WELL I HOEP BCO 2 WILL BE BETTER BECAUSE eA IS TONE OF THE BETTER DEVS FOR PS3. also they are stronger fan base on the 360 as well but they kind of perfer the ps3 more because they like working with it.
