Guerilla: Killzone 3 "As Early As 2010"
You can bet we're gonna be all over any Killzone 3 rumors, just because we maintain that Killzone 2 is the best FPS of the generation thus far.
Previously, it was reported in the Official PlayStation Magazine that the third installment was among the "Secret Games of 2010," which of course is nothing more than speculation but still managed to prompt plenty of debate. Now, according to Connected Consoles citing a video interview on a Dutch TV Show, it seems the game really might launch late next year, although 2011 seems more realistic. Guerilla Studios' Jan-Bart Van Beek said:
"Right now, Killzone 3 for a release in 2011, is being developed. Who knows, maybe we'll see the game even as early as 2010."
After the tremendous success of KZ2, it seems almost inevitable that we'd see another title and you can bet it will be downright huge. Could it be the first major holiday 2010 title? It all depends on Guerilla, of course, and we're willing to bet Sony may have some input on the matter; release dates have become a science in the industry lately, as a game could hit a wall just because it launches alongside intense competition. But right now, we have no idea what might be here towards the end of next year, so we'd be happy to hear that KZ3 is set for a Q4 2010 launch.

And I don't want a rushed sequel, so I really hope they don't release it in 2010, and I hope they take their time. KZ2 had all the ingredients of a AAA title, if not a perfect one, so it is a pity that it should lose some points to some less then stellar voice acting, or story elements when these are the easiest things to improve.

your playing a game, that is all about killing thousands of soldiers in horrific ways...and your peeved about their language?
hahahaaha
i think its great when games are like that, they use it realistically, in situations where in real life, you wouldnt hesitate to say "ahh f**k"

And, I can understand someone being sensitive about the foul language. You can play the game on the private, but unless you turn down the volume, or wear headphones, kids might hear the foul language.

The differences are huge
Killzone 2 = great campaign + characters
COD = online
Killzone 2 = No real life events (propaganda bullshit)
COD = WWII bullshit
Killzone2: Shooting that's fun
COD = 2 hit kills...
Many of the reasons why I like KZ2 more than most FPSs

Alienage am disappointed, I thought you get everything fast!
Scarecrow please! I didn't like MW1 just for the online, the characters are more interesting, Gaz,Price, Nikolai, Griggs, Vasquez, I could go on and on. Serv and them are also cool but MW has more life. I just love relating to what's real, I never saw a Helghast on my street.
I'm not going to bash K2, I enjoyed it a lot, the online was fantastic, I played it to the general ranking. I was just waiting to see if the same MW2 haters will jump on this article and say, "Hell yeah, we want K3" and won't whine about it being the same fps as MW2 is all!

not to reign on the parade. i love KZ2 more than cod b ut i also enjoy me some cod. for starters, u pointed out that KZ2 has a great campaign which is true, but MW cinematics and different types of play like being in the plane at night bombing the town was great. as far as characters go, there is much more to like about KZ2.
second you said that cod is all about ww2, when you failed to metion MW. yes KZ2 didnt focus on real life events which gave them a huge advantage but MW isnt based on events either.
and as far as the shooting goes both are great. i prefer the realistic style of KZ2. but ill only play MW on hard core mode. it doesnt take 10 shots to kill someone in real life on most occasions. but it also makes it extremely hard to actually be in a fire fight if you die in 2 hits. whcih one do i prefer? well i hate shooting someone in the back and have them turn around and still be able to kill me! on the flip side, it sucks when you have no chance to fight for your life.
i will say this, im a KZ2 fan over MW. i love KZ2 everything about it was great. but i also like MW. its fun and the online keeps bringing people back. but when you compared the two you didnt compare all the facts.
i think KZ u favor maybe cus its exclusive. i think there are alot of sony loyalists which is what this site is about really. but when you bring two of the highest rated fps in one conversation its absolutley rediculous to praise one, but give a rats ass about the other. both games are great and if you hate fps, then you should probably hate KZ. i know that maybe KZ hits home more than the cod with others but its still an F*ng shooter, in my opinion it is what FPS are all about! so to say you hate fps then praise KZ is non sense, that makes you a hipocrit.
all i have to say now is im very excited about KZ3! even more so than MW2 which ill be picking up tonight! ;)

no matter what those who say they hate fps games, are coming out to say they can not wait for KZ3. that contradicts its self in a whole. KZ in my opinion is what FPS are supposed to be. so you completely contradict yourself if you say , you hate FPS but jump on KZ.
just read what i wrote above and youll understand where im coming from.
btw i do not hate KZ it is in fact my fav. fps online and off. i just love the way it plays. bottom line its still a shooter. ill say it again to have MW and KZ2 in the same conversation as two of the highest rated FPS this gen, and say that you only like one is preference i get that. but to say you hate FPS and praise KZ2 makes you hipocritical.
but i will say im all for the praise, cus KZ3 should be epic!

thats my point. if someone likes KZ over COD (any) thats one thing, thats understandable. people do have preferences. but whats retarded is when someone says they hate FPS as a whole then praise the hell out of KZ. i know KZ deserves that praise, but it makes those people who hate on the FPS genre, look like douche bags, because not only do they contradict themselves, but they instantly become a hipocrit.
www-
well none the less KZ2 is awesome even if you only play through once. but to sit here and praise it the way alot of people do but hate the fps genre is not right! im with you there.
its awesome that so many people like KZ over other FPS, but its amazing to me how many people contstantly bash FPS on this site, but once news of KZ3 and it being sony exclusive, it becomes instantly a "i cant wait for this" type of game.

And bigrailer, for the record I've never said I hated FPS, are there too many of them? yes. Are most the same rigamarole? Yes. But you if you stick with the best then it's still an enjoyable experience. I used the word "haters" in direct response to www. And again, nobody is saying they are all for KZ2 or 3 because it is Sony exclusive, there is no console war anywhere in this debate.

i wasnt singling any one out lol. i dont know where you though i was talking about you. maybe its that ego "and I can tell which games are better in one playthrough and a few hours online because I'm just that good." but thats beside the point.
and your right there is no console debate but will you argue with me that when an article about MW2 comes out and instantly FPS suck. but then today heres a glimpse at KZ3 and all im saying is its funny how things change. thats weird its still a FPS though. same goes with resistance as well. all these games entioned are great and yes you may like on more than the other but were not talking about that. what im trying to point out is when KZ news comes about its praise, any other time FPS suck, thats my point. to me it seems a little like sony loyalty, not just about how good the game(s) is. which is fine, sony is the top of the line in the industry, and im a loyalist. but i also know a good game is when i play it, and wont hate on the genre because it hasnt changed much game after game!
i dont care what games, or genre people like, everyone has a preference. im just curious and find it funny how KZ is awesome but First person shooters suck!
iGraves1- yea thats my point exactly as well as www-.

This is in direct opposition to reskins that barely if at all improve in graphics, controls, gameplay, etc.
These particular people just want something that takes their system of choice to the max and improves upon any former iterations in a very real sense instead of amping up politics and debates on terrorism in order to get sales. There are plenty of people who aren't into RPGs but just play Final Fantasy, see what I'm getting at? Anywho, yeah if a person can't tell a superior game (not by opinion but on content and in technical aspects)in one play-through then said person might be in the wrong hobby.

im hearing you for sure. if you like one game over another thats all good. thats why devs make games to hopefully improve over the next installment, and make a great experience over the competitors, and mainly just make a great game. the problem i see is too many people around here (not including you) bash any news of a FPS. but if it involves KZ its ok somehow KZ is exempt of being a FPS.
and i dont know anyone personally who doesnt like rpg's but plays final fantasy, but i guess its a possibiity. but again that still contradicts what that person preaches. thats my only point im trying to make. why bash the genre then praise a game in that genre. i guess thats my question to be answered.
scarecrow-
if you have an exception in a game then you shouldnt complain about the genre. if you like one game more than another (KZ2 over COD) thatsa fine as ive been saying. but when a MW2 article comes out and someone says im so tired of FPS they should be banned, and quit being made, they are not good, and so on and so forth. then turn around and say KZ is awesome, what sense does that make? is it not a FPS, is it not in that category despite how good it is! the whole thing is contradicting, its hipocritical, and it shows favoritism.
what this shows is that one game can make a difference. and one game can make a genre. KZ apparently is the standard around here, and anything else falls short, which is pretty shallow but true it seems. if KZ is great then the FPS genre is great. if one game can make you look at the genre differently then its done its job! im excited that KZ has this affect.
im already getting farther and farther away from my original point ugh!

Halo is really irritating me tho. I have ODST (bought for $30 - in no way would I waste $60 on ODLC) and THAT game is WAY overrated, especially compared to its predecessors, of which are also overrated except maybe the first. Seriously, a game that releases an entire year later than the last, and it's EXACTLY the same. Seriously Bungie? God they're just milking the hell out of that series! And I'm 100% positive Reach will be much the same..

I moved this August as well, its just as fun as having your front tooth pulled out without anesthesia... No matter how much you pack its seems like it will never end and the same goes for unpacking it :)
Well, back on topic. I agree that it seems reasonable to have it released soon. Most of the time it took to get the first done was spent on the engine I'm sure.
After what ND did with Uncharted's engine, I can't wait to see how good KZ3 will look.

But this thing about people hating Rico..
I finished the first game and I loved it. I liked the story, characters and gameplay. It had great mutiplayer too but not many people went on.
Rico was a real funny character and he kept me playing through to see what happened next. And it translates to the appreciation I have for him in KZ2. He didn't annoy me at all, because I knew of what happened in KZ1.
*Spoiler* And when Templar died, I noticed not many people cared. In KZ1, he was the main character and I thought he was the man! When he died, it hit me hard. I thought Rico should've went on a killing spree, because he lost just a good friend. It was a Final Fantasy moment for me.

when i first started playing kz2, i was sitting ther for ages thinking "wait...are they the guys from the first game...hmmm"
they really draw NO connections to the first game at all.
the first game didnt get the attention it should have, i loved it, but no-one cared when templar died because no-one knew who he was...lol
i think if the person your playing as could talk, it would be cool, make you feel more attached. like if you get badly hurt...he'd be like "damn taht hurt"
his anger management i think is fair enough, and i think it would be the same thing in real life. you cant say how it would be in real life, because i dont remember the last time humans invaded another planet.
haha just my thoughts =]

just a few things they should add.
1 a more in depth storyline.
KZ2 was were going to this planet to kill these bastards. why? who are they? why are we at war with them?
who cares were at war son now grab your gun and get moving.
2 i really would like to see a prequel to KZ1 show who the higs are where they originated from, why they tried to take over vetka.
3 more variety in areas and environments.
your either in a desert, a mine, a factory, or a villa.
your constantly asking yourself havent i done this before? dident i just finish this?
4 more variety in enemies.
they all look the same, they all fight the same, the tactics to killing them is the same.
basically all you have to do is pop and shoot and sometimes dodge a grenade.
i want some gameplay variety like gears of war 2 has, you pop and cover in that and you will last 2 secconds.
either a ticker or a guy with those swinging grenades will kill you.
thats what killzone needs, some gameplay variety, how you kill this guy is completley different to how you kill that guy.
5 some more emotion please, besides that mission its basically empty.
6 the enemy AI was bloody brilliant i would say perfect but friendly AI o god dont get me started.
last mission just before the visari battle, i have lost count the amount of times i would be staring at ricco and hes sitting there while someones shooting him.
he just sits there like a stunned mullet.
7 your friends die far, far, far to easily, the game is hard enough protecting your own ass let alone having to go zap someone every 2 minutes.
8 you can heal your friends why cant they heal you?
9 the most demanded one for KZ2 CO-OP!
ok splitscreen will have a hit on the graphics but how about normal co-op like resistance fall of man thats not split screen.
if that cant be done, than have a spec ops type style like COD MW2.
and bring back the offline MP that killzone had, i had so much fun with me and my cuz against bots in the MP maps.

kz is unique because its NOT like those games.
arent enemies the same in every game, you shoot them....thats it.... its a first person shooter, not a first person puzzle shooter.
i personally HATE it, when sequels are prequels, you CANT make a game called KZ3 and have it based before kz1 its a contradictory statement, a prequel sequel.
maybe another game that isnt a kz# for a prequel would be cool, but for kz3...well the fight on vecta has only just begun...
i think kz3 should put you in the shoes of the helghast, fighting to retake their planet.
the only thing id like them to do for kz3, is NOT make it so that only people with no lives can platinum the thing. i dont have the time to sit around playing multiplayer 10 hours a day 7 days a week, just to get in the top 1%!!!!! that was so bullshit. i have to work, so i have money to buy kz3 =]

it really does not matter, ive got like 26% in killzone 2 if that.
plats are meant to be hard and take time, i dont see anyone complaining about the 10000 kills in resistance 2.
now that took forever!
speaking of trophies has anyone got any of them for MW2?
for some reason theres no trophy profile when im playing the game, the list wont come up.
the game has trophies, right?

Wish list? MORE COLORS!!!! Co-Op, way more in-depth multiplayer. KZ2's multiplayer, while fantastic, lacks the hard core stats I loved with Halo 3. k/d ratio, who killed who the most, with what weapon you used the most, head shots, ect...
The controls were fine, I loved the weighty feel to them.
Also, I think it would be cool to play as the Helghast, and see the story from their point of view. I found my self relating more to them by the end of the game than the ISA.

One of the best FPSs I've ever played, and I'm not keen on FPSs at all
