i had problems like these in the first one, sometimes it would take about 10 attempts to play a single match, just for the host to end game

Seems to be a new update every time I load up this disc (all 2 times so far) but really enjoying the single player enough to tie me over till the online is sorted.
Btw how long before we get the game review here?

If PSX didn't give the likes of Uncharted 2 a 10.0, you can bet your lunch money they won't give this game a 10.0.

Ben and Arnold are not as loose with their praise as some websites and reviewers.

Indeed. From a visual standpoint, MW2 does not approach the graphics of Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2.

The graphics are really good though.

I had trophie problems but that's a non issue now, I just kept loading and unloading the disc until the trophies popped up. I haven't tried the multiplayer I'm still enjoying the story mode.

they fixed that with patch 1.02 so you dont need to redownload. The problem now is that it messes with the trophy sync up system. When i sync trophies to server, it stops at 91% and gives me an error.

Yeah its pretty but not a ten pretty, its just really shiny, kind of reminds me of when I used to play my 360 every thing seemed to have a clear coat.

I have had these problems as well, as far as the not being able to join my friends parties(which is essentially the only reason I bought MW2), but the weird thing is we all picked it up at midnight came home had to do an update. O.k so its not the first broken game I have bought(socom), which seems to be more common this gen, but every body was connecting for the first three or four games and then we had connection problems, its to the point where I just ignore any and all invites now, and almost everybody in my friends list has this game so I have a lot of invites I mean a lot of them.

Lol, what are you talking about? I don't even think there's a Muslim in this game. The chapter you're talking about happens in Moscow, Russia. The dude goes undercover, and you don't even have to fire your gun, except at the people shooting back, but you don't have to shoot any civilian at all. AND you can even skip the chapter, it has the option to not play the chapters that are considered 'offensive'

Don't misunderstand me please. I didn't say that America or the American soldiers are evil, I'm pretty sure that there are thousands of the American soldiers who don't agree with the decisions of the government, but this doesn't deny the fact that they still represent such an army.

What baffles me is, why do people always care about the feelings of the American families and completely forget about the Iraqi and Afghani people who have got ripped apart by the American army? Are the American families made of blood and flesh and the Iraqi families made of some shit?

Ok, first of all the United States military isn't a a black army. Second of all you aren't fighting as the army, you are fighting as the marines.

Anyway I told that I'd stop. After I get the rest of the trophies of WAW maps I'll have no FPS to play, I also got 100% in Killzone 2. I think I'll be getting Bioshock to prepare myself for Bioshock 2. Many gamers recommend Bioshock, and I liked its demo.

Paolo, it would appear that no war is ever justified by your standards then. No matter what another country does, America has no right.

Over simplification to follow: Afghanistan, you give safe harbor to Bin Laden after he takes ownership of 911, then you are going down.

At the beginning of Iraq, we did plenty of justification. And Saddam did plenty of provocation. Ignoring 20 something UN sanctions, resolutions, constant cat and mouse game he played with nuclear inspectors, threatening with weapons he didn't have, leading the world to assume he had them, years of murder and oppression, it all added up.

And you claim to know much about Islam. If that were the case, you would spend more time denouncing those who perpetrate despicable acts in the name of Islam than you do denouncing America. And now you have a beef with FOX news? Where will it end with you? In regards to Israel, you must think they need to be wiped off the face of the map like Iran does? Are they a “stinking corpse” like Ahmadinejad says?

Also the mission with the airport. Even if I wanted to shoot the civilians, the other 'team members' shoot pretty much everyone before you get the chance to even want to. I mean I feel it's just a game so I didn't really care too much, though I've always been good guy in games so I really didn't feel any need to shoot either, but I mean. It really wasn't as bad as it was made out to be by the media.

Just as this political/religious topics aren't allowed here, I don't like them in my games, which is why I never bothered playing through COD4. I was too disgusted. Not necessarily from Anti-Muslim or anti-Russian stereotypes, which there may have not been any...But from the utterly brainless cavalier, hollywood-like sensationalized, marketing cowboyism that the game endorsed and which is why in all those recruiting centers in the mall have a 360 with a guy in uniform playing COD4.

And as horrific, despicable, and inexcusable as the attacks on US soil have been, nothing can justify this form of marketing. It should be an insult to everyone's intelligence, if not their morals.

It just goes to show what infinity ward risked when setting their video games in the modern era. I also find it funny that paolo would play world at war and be offended by modern warfare 2. In my view, they are both wars and should be avoided. However, since world at war is way in the past, you find it alright to play. If you are offended by war and would go to lengths such as boycotting a game, boycot the genre and not just a single game. Ohh, and i never realized you didnt have to shoot everything on NO RUSSIAN, I did hit one of russians by accident and the bastard killed me no questions asked.

What's strange is that at midnight it didn't have these probs. When I got the game at the launch it was perfect, no probs at all. But then after the Netflix info and other stuff, it suddenly doesn't work with invites and other crap, it's strange. Not saying it's sony's fault, but it really seems more like PSN's problem then the game's itself because the new invite system is via friends list and when your friends play a certain thing it doesn't show up correctly. No idea tho.

The game worked fine for me up until I down loaded the 1.02 update. Now I cant join my friens games in SPEC OPS when they send invites and vice versa. I cant even get into multiplayer at all. I played last night and everything was fine. Got the update this morning and everything is screwed up. Awesome, just awesome.

same problem, and i just got a bunch of intel. It lets me sync to 91% then error. this was happening with the previous patch too. Maybe i should remove the patch, sync, then redownload since it doesnt take that long to download.

I think it would behoove everyone to just forget about this hyper-realistic borefest and just play Uncharted 2! Seriously, Modern Warfare is a waste of time and money.

But hey, if drab, dull, irritating single player and a multiplayer mode full of campers and random grenade-throwers is your thing, have at it.

I enjoy his game a lot and honestly I feel you have to be a lot more strategic with grenades... it seems harder to kill and harder to be killed with them... plus the levels are much larger so its easier to avoid them.

Just my opinion though

Indeed, hate to disagree but you're entirely wrong. This game is nothing like CoD4. The maps are much bigger and you can no longer run and gun are you WILL die. Also the single-player, was actually quite amazing, much better than CoD4's and it had a great plot, I'd give this game easily a 9.8

Yep, just saw X-play's video review and it does look like they re-balanced the multiplayer.

However, I stand behind my statement. Waste of time. Waste of money. You spent HOW much? For 5 hours of SP gameplay? Oh, but don't forget the multiplayer... which will become a chore to keep up with after two weeks.

All this just to play virtual "tag" online with 12-year-old racists.

I hate Call of Duty. And I hate Activision.

i hate to say it cus i love the MP, but i still think single player is a very important part of a game, the most important in my eyes. the single player campaign only being about 5 hourts disgusts me. i know there is stil MP and spec ops, but its almost like u put the game in and then o i beat it! i do realize that COD is about the MP now though so i seen it coming!

the game is absolutely fun and the MP is epic. but if this game wins game of the year over uncharted 2 i will be sick to my stomach.

How do you hate Call of Duty?
The multiplayer of COD is very fun and addictive. It is never a chore because they never put in multiplayer trophies! Thank God for them lol.

There's a lot of nice players to have fair matches with.

My buddy brought this over. I noticed the colors are very flat and washed out. Wth happened? IW did a great job making both versions of MW1 equal they screwed the PS3 version of MW2. It looks like crap and was very pixilated on my 52" tv. They suckered everyone. Lol

I don't know, bro. I had a Sammie LCD, but I returned it for a plasma. The colors pop more, especially with the lights off, and you can see more of 'em, and the lag is pretty much gone. But mad props on the sound system, especially with games like COD that go boom. And really, 50" of anything at 1080p is pretty sweet.

I don't know. So far I'm liking MW1 more. There's was more cut scenes and cinematic experiences and the graphics just seemed better. The guns In MW2 look much better but the environments don't look as good. Thank goodness I just barrowed this and didn't buy it.

not to burst your bubble im a 36 in less than 12 hours! im not one to brag though! ;)

really though rank means nothing in COD, it really just shows how long youve been playing, its just a number. it doesnt show how good u are unless u actually take the time to look at the list of users and seperate them all out. and take the time to use all the weapons and get all the upgrades for each. otherwise its just a number and a symbol.

socom on the other hand, (not confrontation, im so confused by its rankings ugh.) well the first few installments had ranking systems to seperate the best of the best. you got rewarded by doing great and killing higher ranks, but lost rank by failing and getting killed. now i know that ranking system is subjective because its frustrating to lose rank, but it really showed who had "skill".

i haven't run into these issues yet. maybe because i've been focusing on the story and specops modes. just finished the campaign this morn. the story is pretty interesting. i could never see that happening the way it does in the game, but interesting nonetheless.

I know what you mean, and I was just bein funny, we do have nice wiggle room here without things getting too out of hand usually. But whoever and wherever you are (outside of the proper arena of course)it is just always a good idea not to talk politics, insult countries, or bring up personal opinions on war.

The ex-xbots are another issue, an interesting one though, because they are cheesed off about a lot of things and still don't know how to express themselves properly.

this game has trbl (terrible) textures. they are blurry. this game has trbl (terrible) graphics. there is no antialiasing. jaggies assaulted my eyes. party system is broken. i am sad.
you see guys, after uncharted 2 and killzone 2, multiplat graphics just dont stack up...

hugely disappointed in this game...

How do you figure fanboyism factors in at all? I loathe Call of Duty with all of my heart, but I don't see how that makes me a fanboy. It's a multiplat game from a traditionally multiplat company.

I hate this game because it offends my every sensibility and its hyperbolic popularity with the slavering, uneducated masses makes me want to throw up. Wrong. COD:MW designed to be as realistic as possible. Uncharted is about as realistic as an Indiana Jones movie. Violence and gunplay are fine when they're stylized. That's the way video games SHOULD be. But when you have entire missions where all you do is blow people up in black and white heat vision mode with missiles from a helicopter, I start to question why I'm playing a game that teaches me all about "modern warfare."

Humans should be repulsed by war. Not entertained by it.

Besides, I loathe all first-person shooters anyways. I can just accept all the Halos, Killzones, and Timesplitters...ers, because they're extremely stylized and UN-realistic.

@Aftab, I know they did the research for the wepons so did Nauaghty Dog, so did Kojima and crew, as did Slant 6 but I didnt read this kind of blind hate for those games on this site.

As for Arvis' intellect, I never called him stupid just ignorant he is commenting on a game he hasnt played and made a very arrogant comment on the people that do play it. In Uncharted, you fight monsters and when you shoot guys with a rocket launcher, it goes boom, and they fly bloodlessly on to the ground. In MGS4, you fight giant robots, and you can even beat the entire game without even using a weapon. In MW2, you are a US soldier on the battlefield. MW2 is designed to be more realistic than these other games. You get entertained by that, but many people find that disturbing. And it's not like anyone was talking about your mom.

No matter how realistic the design is, and most successful game devs. try for some sort of realism especially when dealing with weapons be it either wieght, sound, and look. Most are cartoony I know. Damn you for bringing up MGS4's non leatal takedowns. But my main comment was about MW2's story. A story that is as made up as any Hollywood movie.

There is a part where russians invade the U.S. and the mission calls for you to defend what is as close to Burger King (Burger Town its called) as can be put into a game. Very satirical if you ask me.

I can make no argument against someone that doesnt like or isnt entertained by a game of this kind. I understand, tons of things out in the world that I dont like, I just dont waste any time or energy on them.

A case in point is notice that there are 200+ comments on the MW2 review, now not everyone here is a fan of the game, most for the fact that they dont like FPS' yet felt the need to waste that much time to say so. Today there is an article about how Naughty dog is suppling Devs with tool kits, a very positive article and I'll check back tomorrow but I'm sure there wont be 200+ comments on it.

I hope Arvis, you, and I are passed this now scroll through some of the 200+ comments in the MW2 Review and see what Arvis and I had to say to each other. I'm done with this man. But arguing is fun aint it ;)

They were way too cocky with the release of this game, they didn't even do a beta......i'm a fan of their work but i think they needed to learn a lesson. A product's not ready till it's fully tested. Hopefully they try to make up for this.
